Ferrer wins so easily, 6-1 6-3 6-1 over Haider-Maurer to put Spain 2-0 up.
Hard not to laugh at Austria

I haven't looked it up exactly! But judging by the Ferrer scoreline it would appear so!

Isner leads Simon 2 sets to nil!
Berdych is almost over the finishing line, destroying Troicki on home soil.

Re: No Davis Cup thread?
Good win for Isner. Would have been disgusted to see a pusher in Simon win. I am actually amazed looking how much improved he looks now from what he was earlier. Though still weaker in return game and movement which some tactical players can easily exploit. But he is improving no doubt.
Now the 4th tie Isner vs Tsonga could be very interesting. I'm not sure which side to take, both are my favorite players .

Nalby vs Cilic was a gruesome 5h 9m grinder. Another marathon match with 241 Unforced Errors in total combined. Is this the highest in a single match? I certainly can't recall any match where so many UEs were hit.

Re: No Davis Cup thread?
I didn't see the whole of it . Luckily
Today all doubles rubbers. Nalbandian is scheduled to play even this with Shwank today and then tomorrow against Karlovic again. 3 consecutive days of play when the first one took over 5 hours??
Did Pico opted out of DC or he wasn't picked up by the captain? Anyways putting an old Nalby for 3 consecutive days of play was too much of a risk.
Lets see how it works out.

The Spain final also had this pair playing doubles.

Re: No Davis Cup thread?
GB currently ahead in the doubles match 4-6 7-5 5-3 ...
One would think that GB (albeit missing an A Murray) should defeat Belgium, given that Roger Draper had all those targets back in 2006 including getting five players into the top 100 by 2010.

Yes, that went well
They will have to pull out all the stops to win the tie now.

Re: No Davis Cup thread?
Alex Bogdanovic is still only 27 but has fallen away dramatically from a ranking of 108 in 2007. Other players e.g. Chris Eaton caught the public attention in 2008 by getting to the second round of Wimbledon. Many have shown that they have the potential but it seems the long term dedication and motivation is lacking. I would have hoped that the LTA could have done something better with them.

Definitely. Leon Smith seems to be having a positive effect on the players so maybe we will see some progress in a year or two?? Put it this way, any improvement would be something at this point.

Well done to Fleming and Hutchins. I agree that Leon Smith has a good influence on the players.
