The Boat race Empty The Boat race

Cambridge have won after several controversial incidents including an swimmer causing a holt to the race and a collision between the two boats eventually leading to Oxford losing an oar through their own fault which left them with no chance as Cambridge got further and further away taking the win.

Oxford will consider themselves unfortunate after being in a strong position at the time of both incidents. But the umpire was bellowing at Oxford to move over at the time when the oars clashed.

Awful for all the rowers involved especially of course Oxford, having devoted at least 9 months of all their free time preparing.

However, probably good for the "boat race" as a "British" sporting tradition, as it puts the race back into the news and the publics consciousness and provides an interesting story to go around the world. I.e. a bit of controversy can be good publicity from time to time.
