Wigan robbed
How could the match officials make so many glaring mistakes? One would have to think they were biased towards Chelsea.

Re: Wigan robbed
Disgusting decisions there in favour of Chelsea and United. Everyone is used to United getting all the dodgy decisions at Old Trafford but now Chelsea too? Shocking refs and linesmen should be all sacked and replaced with monkeys and Dermot Gallagher should be ashamed of himself going on sky sports news every Mon morning trying to defend the undefendable. IMO every ref in the prem league is a total buffoon.

Re: Wigan robbed
We get robbed on a regular basis, but as a Wigan fan I'm biased so am unlikely to be believed about that.
What I would like to know though, is why players NEVER get fair punishments against us, like Rooneys blatantly deliberate elbow on McCarthy last season, or the obvious grabbing of the throat by a West Brom player a few weeks a go?
As for bias by officials, isn't it about time someone actually mentions the words bribery or matchfixing, it's been proven to happen in most leagues, even the big ones and on a regular basis too, so why are people always so naive enough to say it can't happen in England?

Because there isn't a lot of evidence to suggest a huge bias towards any particular club.

Re: Wigan robbed
Well, its happened in cricket, horse racing and other sports, so why not football.
I'd also be willing to take a small punt that now so many big foreign corporations have a vested interest in most of our Premier League teams, that thats where any corruption would stem from. Probably wouldn't be hard to put pressure on the refs, or offer them a juicy bung to give the "right" decisions.
Agree that the decisions in both the Chelsea and Man Utd matches were shocking.
As far as I can see, the only way round this is to use video replays, as they do in cricket and rugby, to review decisions (in addition to goal line technology).
If people are worried about lengthy disruptions to matches, then create a post-match review / appeal process, so that decisions can be made or overturned at a later date.

Re: Wigan robbed
Looks like Chelsea must have been spending the Roubles on refs - not only the two offside goals v Wigan (second one I can understand the mistake, but the first one was an awful decision), but then the penalty yesterday against Danny Murphy for a good tackle in the box.
Despite the bad luck with decisions, it was kind of a good weekend for Wigan - they wouldn't have expected to take any points from Chelsea, but put in an excellent team performance while the teams immediately above them didn't take the opportunity to take points from apparently easier opponents. Bolton in particular had a shocker against Fulham on Saturday, although were a bit better yesterday (still lost though). It's so close between the 4 teams trying to avoid the two remaining relegation spots that even the odd draw will make a difference at this stage, and Wigan look to be the team putting in the best performances of the teams down there.
