Wasps season decimated by injuries
Every club has their injury woes, we all bemoan our bad luck when our star players get a long spell on the side lines but something out of the ordinary has been happening this season at London Wasps. The news today is that the club captain John Hart has had to retire with immediate affect after failing to recover from a shoulder injury. This takes the number of injury enforced retirements this season to 5 players...in addition to this 5 players have had their season ended already with another seven sustaining long term injuries 6 weeks.
The list below shows the injury toll (some of which were injured for the first half of the season and have started playing again), this list does not include shorter term injuries of which there have been a couple as well. Wasps are not the team they were a few years ago but how are meant to fight a meaningful AP campaign when you are decimated in such fashion ? The question has to be asked what are they doing at Wasps ?....TBH i doubt they are doing much different from other clubs but have just been chronically unlucky.
John Hart (ankle ligaments op, April 2012) retired
Joe Worsley (neck, Nov 2011) retired
Steve Thompson (neck, Nov) retired
Dan Ward-Smith (back & knee, Aug) retired
