As previously posted, I think the Golf board could do with another moderator, just due to the large number of post that are about.

The role is only to get involved if a post is libellous, inflamatory or just plain wrong (offensive or aggressive for example)

There are no set rules but having seen your first 4 days on here, I dont imagine there will be much trouble anyway. We have had one wum so far, and between Davie and I he was gone within 10 minutes.

If at any point, any of you have an issue with a mods decision about a post, then you can always pm another mod or post a query on the "alert a moderator" thread. The same goes for if the mods arent about and there is something going down.

The moderators will have powers over the golf forum only.

So the nominations for modhood are:

Maclaren
LJ
Navyblueshorts

All moderators will be reviewed periodically to ensure continued approval. I will let the poll run until Wednesday.

Not trying to cause offence here but did we really put LJ up for nomination. In all seriousness I am not sure he has the qualities or the wisdom to police the boards in a fair, open minded and even handed manner. sorry LJ.

Ok that was a little tongue in cheek, but really you do have a knack of getting embroiled with the WUMS. You somehow have a quality that attracts their wummery. Maybe that will make you a great Mod, an inside track on how they think.

Having been accused of it myself I know exactly where these people are coming from. Besides... there is nothing wrong with the odd wind-up depending on the situation and the language being used.

Mac, here's another way to look at it:

In 'Lawrence of Arabia', it was Peter O'Toole's character that was reluctantly sent out to the desert on an impossibly stalemated mission because the high command simply wanted him out of sight believing he was hopeless. I strongly suspect that LJ just may be our T.E. Lawrence. Of course, he does die in a motorcycle accident at the beginning of the movie, but the details can be worked out later. Anyone want to play Anthony Quinn's role as Auda Abu Tayi?

I have yet to sit down and watch that particular movie but I think that you might have me slightly miscast. Whilst I have suffered several motorcycle accidents in the past I've bounced. thumbsup

No. I double checked, LJ. Central Casting does not make any mistakes. They're also looking for someone of your type to play the lead role in a biographical film titled: 'The Charlie Sheen Story: Road to Rehab." Are you interested?

Of the four votes cast in LJ's favour how many do we think are by the man himself using alias's?

I still vote to make all 3 mods. Or is that rockers? So far it looks like a nice 'checks and balance' situation with 6 votes each. It appears that the will of the voters is so far successful at making it a 3 way tie.

This board is probably the easiest to moderate and the people who contribute are usually sane, and usually self police, besides the odd proffanity we all like to throw in. The moderator(s) will have an easy life and Davie stepped in at the start and any of the 3 guys wanting to get involved now all get my vote and it shouldn't turn into a beuty contest. We all have our own opinions and should be allowed to expres them, even though some will disagree, but thats freedom of speach. The 3 guys who are willing to jump in do so not for prestige or power, they are volunteering to help out, simple. Nobody can be on 24/7, so if the guys are volunteering some of their time, well good stuff and it should be appreciated by all of us. I say sign them all up and have a team of 4 mods who can sort out between themselves when they're available.

After all we probably don't need a mod, but no harm having 4 of the Kumquat Very Happy

Either way I would still suggest the following:

A sticky thread within the golf forum which alerts the moderators to specific problems on the golf boards. That way we can be specific about hte 'policing' rather than having to report anything on the main moderator board. That can be used as a 'higher authority' kind of thing should there be anything particularly problematic whenever the guys are not about... and also used in the case of someone disagreeing with a decision.

That way the whole thing can be self-contained and kept clean rather than having to trawl the threads for anything that needs removal and also we don't get moderation requests hidden amoung a thread covering people complaining about other things like football abuse etc.

So says the bunny and so shall it be! :albino:

Maybe a name change to Wavy or Gravy will do the business for the next mod vote.
