Not really, as Hendry lost to the same player he will be facing this year back in 2000 in the first round when he Hendry was the defending World Champion at that time.

Re: world snooker championship round 1
As weird as this may sound but i see Higgins loosing to Wenbo.
Hendry will be pleased with Bingham but Bingham has been in some form so i expect a win for Stuart.
Dott and Perry will be a bore fest but i feel Dott will win.
Mags should be too strong for Brecel on his debut as well.
Murphy will be too good for Jones but it could be an entertaining match.
Lee and Higginson, thats a hard match to choose but i will tip Higginson
Carter and Davis will be another bore fest but i think that Davis will win as Carter's mind is elsewhere right now.
Trump Dale poses to be a cracker and i feel it will be close but Trump should win.
Williams should be too strong for Chuang in their encounter.
Ooosh, Ronnie wont be happy with that. Ebdon will be pulling out all stops to put him off his game and as a recent winner of a ranker, this match is hard to call.
Gould should brush Gilbert aside fairly comfortably.
Robbo v Doherty, as happy as i am to see Doherty back, he is going to be sent to the commentary box in the first round. Robbo at a stroll.
Ding v Day, another one that i think will be close but Ding will win in the end.
Allen will be too strong for Yupeng.
Stevens v Fu is also going to be a very close one but i feel Fu will get there as Stevens is not the player he once was.
Selby will cruise past Hawkins.
All in all, there are some very good looking first round matches

Not a bad draw. Only 4 matches ( Dott / Perry, Carter / Davis, Gould / Gilbert &. Selby / Hawkins) which look like being stinkers. Peter Ebdon, who more often than not, is practically unwatchable, is ironically in a match which is almost unmissable. I think an Ebdon / Wenbo double might offer some value. Meanwhile Bingham / Hendry has 10-9 written all over it.

Bingham must surely fancy his chances of beating Hendry as he has done this feat before at the World Championship back in 2000 when Hendry was then a better player than he is now.

Selby v Hawkins is an interesting match IMO and it's far from certian that Selby will win it.

Ken out, Robbo through. Ominous with 3 centuries. Tasty quarter he's in though with MJW and Ronnie.
Hendry through to face Higgins. Interesting but tragic from my point of view.

Mark Allen involved in more controversy following his exit today:-

He is just making himself look like a sore loser IMO.

Yes he has a major problem putting his foot in it whenever he has something to say. A bit like his fellow countryman the late, great Alex Higgins who similarly had numerous fall-outs with the upper echelons.

Its getting really annoying reading his views these days. I wish he would just get on with his snooker as he is a very good player.
