Neil Dexter steps down from Middlesex Championship captaincy temporarily
Neil Dexter has stepped down from Middlesex's Championship captaincy due to poor form, although he will continue to lead the one-day sides and, when his form is in order, the door has been left open for him to captain the Championship team again. Chris Rogers replaces him.

Surely the correct descision from Dex,but one must remember he admitted last season how the responsibility of captaincy had seriously effected his own form, and injury at the end of the season saw Chris take over successfully then.
The problem continues in this season's opening matches, and even when his form does return as it inevitably will, should he return to the captaincy at the same time,or is he really not cut out for the job if he cannot seemingly combine captaincy and scoring runs.
A big hundred against Durham would be most welcome, however one must consider the fact that on regaining the leadership the old problems will arise, and given another failure this week the availability of Strauss and Morgan soon as well would make him a strong candidate for exclusion from the championship side.

I wasn't able to watch last week's Middlesex v Surrey match but by all accounts he bowled very well then. If that was his last time as Middlesex captain, a good game and result for him to end on.

He bowled well, and captained well, but my fear is that if captaincy effects his batting form so much, how can he continue to do it.

Well, Strauss and Finn are in the squad for tomorrow's game v Durham, and Collymore is rested. My guess is that Strauss will obviously open, so Denly will probably go to 3, Rogers to 4, Malan to 5 and it will be between Berg and Dexter for the number 6 slot. Finn will come straight in for Collymore.

Berg and Dexer are both selected of course, and Rayner is omitted along with Collymore.
Durham won the toss and have put Middlesex in to bat
