LK's Timeout
Hello fellow posters,
LK is leaving the forum temporarily because today via the radio and BBC I found out I am to be redundant. I need to focus all my efforts to getting a job before everything goes to pot. Also with a mental illness makes the search twice as hard. I wish you all well and hope to see you soon

Indeed. My Admin Assistant had the pleasure of spreading the panic and virtually killed productivity in the department.
It is a part of life I am afraid and I shall get myself down every job centre and apply on line to every job possible.
Thanks for the kind words MFC

lk sorry to hear of redundancy.
Mental illness is a burden many of us have to bear but little things like posting on this forum can be really therapeutic in that regard.
Hope things work out for the best.

Sorry to hear your news of your sudden job loss lk.
Such developments have, in some cases, been known to lead to better things, although I appreciate that might seem of little comfort to you right now.
My best wishes to you for the future. Hope to see you back here before long.

It's quite obvious by that comment that you've not personally had to deal with such issues. Some of us have and the comment was meant for someone who might just understand the reasoning behind posting it.

I have not - if a bit of levity was misplaced I can only apologise.

LK...
You have contributed immensely to this forum, for which we, as a community, are greatly indebted. We await the return of the prodigal son after the brief, albeit painful, sabbatical.
May the force be with you!.

Christianity? In the bible God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered. This is in the authorised version of events approved by the church. I can hardly imagine what goes on in the gospels that didn't make the cut.

To be told such news via radio. What a shocking way to be treated! Stay strong. These are harsh times.
I agree with newballs in some ways. When you feel strong enough to come back I will do my best to distract you from real life problems...

Henman Bill, this is shabby. NITB posts a link that she hopes will be an encouragement to someone and you use it as an opportunity to mock her faith. Poor showing.
LK - I hope all goes well in the search for work and that things return to normal for you as soon as possible.

Disappointed in you there Henman Bill. Totally inappropriate remarks given the nature of the thread.

Fortunately God desn't exist. Unfortunately many poor people have been brainwashed from birth into superstition. It's probably the most serious problem facing humanity, blocking as it does meaningful progress in so many ways.

Bogbrush, I totally agree with you, but perhaps this is not an appropriate matter to discuss in the context of this thread?

And of course the most appropriate place to make this point is on a tennis forum, in response to someone trying to offer some encouragement to someone who has lost their job and has to deal with an illness.
But thanks for clearing that up for us. There I was thinking starvation, warfare, disease, environmental destruction were the major problems facing humanity but no, it turns out it's religion. Obvious really because the religion-free states - USSR, China, North Korea, Albania etc - are historically the best models for society.

Re: LK's Timeout
H M Murdoch- what do you mean by saying that China is religion- free? I believe that that is false. Please give a reference.

Re: LK's Timeout
Tennis anorak. "Religion-free" was the wrong expression. I doubt any country is totally religion free. I meant the government is atheist. You have to be atheist to be a member of the party.
But I fear we are on the cusp of a religio-political debate and I don't think this is the place!
