Who should captain the 606 all time allstars?
Finally- who should captain the 606 Alltime Allstars?
We finished our list of best of all time players a couple of weeks ago and it is as shown below, with the subs done on my whim as I CBA to do another poll for them! (JPR was technically first past the post in the first poll, and I'm taking my Poll not HERSH's for Centres, sorry)
JPR Williams
Jonah Lomu
Brian O'Driscoll
Tim Horan (covering 10)
David Campese
Dan Carter
Gareth Edwards
Zinzan Brooke
Michael Jones (covering 6 and 8)
Richard Hill
John Eales
Martin Johnson
Jason Leonard (covering 1)
Sean Fitzpatrick
Os Du Randt
Subs
Graham Price, Keith Wood, Willie John-McBride, Ritchie McCaw, Joost Van Der Westhuizen, Philippe Sella, Christian Cullen
Final question- who captains the side? There are a lot of captians on that list...

I´d go with a forward so that leaves Fitzpatrick, MJ or Nobody for me. In the interests of fair play I´ll go for Eales. He can do the goalkicking as well.

Well Os has pulled out ,he is going to play for the Springbok all stars.
Interesting to see what the outcome was of this poll.
Of the top 8 nations historically, the only countries that has less players in there than the Boks are Scotland and France,.... Yep, that's about right.

If Oz pulls out, JL goes to loosehead and Price starts!

For some reason the Boks and the French never get as a high a representation in these teams as they should. To be fair Biltong I did vote for Joost and gave good reasons why he's a better pick than Edwards. But it was always gonna be Edwards on such a British/Irish dominated forum.
To be fair it is a brilliant team though. And you can't really say any of the selected 15 don't belong in an an all time team. It's just that others might be just as worthy in many positions.
This would be my personal one
1. Os Du Randt (RSA)
2. Sean Fitzpatrick (NZ)
3. Jason Leonard (ENG)
4. Martin Johnson (ENG)
5. Colin Meades (NZ)
6. Richard Hill (ENG)
7. Michael Jones (NZ)
8. Zinzane Brooke (NZ)
9. Joost van der Westhuizen (RSA)
10. Dan Carter (NZ)
11. Jonah Lomu (NZ)
12. Tim Horan (AUS)
13. Brian O'Driscoll (IRE)
14. David Campese (AUS)
15. Serge Blanco (FRA)
6 X New Zealand
3 X England
2 X South Africa
2 X Australia
1 X France
1 X Ireland
But in my case there's no Welsh and only one French. Which also seems ridiculous, with the magnificent players they've given the game of rugby. But it's just impossible to pick a definitive World 15 which also gives the relative representation to each country that their contribution to the game deserves.
By the way, I voted for Sean Fitzpatrick as captain.

I think that is a poor executive decision I'm afraid CJ. If memory serves, the first past the post aspect was that HERSH said he would crown the winner of the poll by early afternoon of the same day he started it (about 6 hours worth). That prevented evening posters and the SH contingent from voting. Low and behold, by the next morning Cullen had taken the lead and stayed out in front for the duration.
It would seem a bit unfair to accept that set of circumstances when it was the only poll to be conducted under those conditions.

Well technically the best thing to do would be to redo 15 and wings under my own rules and choices but I'm not sure how well that'll go down

It's done CJ, there wil always be contentious issues, don't worry about that, you did it as you saw fit, and it should stand as is.

Fixed that for you Laurie! It´s only got one Cantab but it´s not too shabby a team. Perhaps they can play a greatest Bok side that Biltong can come up with to test its mettle. They can also be coached by Michael Lynagh, which would mean that he makes a full recovery.

Re: Finally- who should captain the 606 Alltime Allstars?
Of course it did. It was a Bok team! Controversy follows your team regardless of whether it´s deserved or not.
That said, if a hypothetical team like this really existed which contained so few Bok and French players then I think it´s only fair that a 3N tournament involving all those 3 teams would be a very inclusive way to see the rugby world represented. Add to those 3 teams another team with a mixture of Argentinian, Goergian forwards and Parisse at 8, some Pacific Island backs and a Japanese winger and I'd pay money to go see those matches. Hypothetical money that is.

Yeah, well it is what it is, I think my "inferior" Bok mates wil take that lot on any day of the week.
