He wasn't, his first try was simple and it seems to have boosted his confidence and he has stopped trying too hard.
Still makes stupid mistakes - ie. that stupid knock on he just made.

Edinburgh taking a bit of a risk resting their first team for Ulster next week, I mean won't the be a bit short of match practice?

Shouldn't Edinburgh be sending their best team down? They could do with some prep for their HC semi.

Morgan - if we lose against Connacht at home when we've done all the hard work, then we don't deserve to be anywhere near the professional sport.Morgannwg wrote:Scarlets need 5 points and need to hope Glasgow lose next weeks game.
Astonishing Schlong try in the last Scarlets match, incidentally.

Re: Edinburgh V Cardiff Blues
Just saw the Edinburgh vs Cardiff "highlights". Pretty much as expected, men vs boys. Some of the Edinburgh tackling was beyond bad.
Agree with RDW, definitely the right thing to do resting the 1st XV. Ulster had to play full on against Leinster and it looks like they'll be going into the big game with a few injuries to some key players. Edinburgh should be fully fit and at full strength. Hopefully it'll be a leveller.

Its getting to the stage where I actually cant be bothered wasting my time watching Edinburgh in the Rabo anymore. Why waste my money going to watch them inevitably go out with a whimper like theyve done all season?

No real injuries reported after the Leinster game, think Afoa will be the only one missing from Ulster's first choice team.

Artful,
Although the word on Wannenburg and Henry seems good we would very well be without Wallace.

Ulster will be match hardened and fit, and their systems will be up to speed They have an 8 day turnaround and less travel. (You can drive it in an hour and 3/4s)funnyExiledScot wrote:Just saw the Edinburgh vs Cardiff "highlights". Pretty much as expected, men vs boys. Some of the Edinburgh tackling was beyond bad.

More than parity perhaps, our back tightheads arent brilliant, a guy thats been out for a long time or a youngster.
MrsP - didnt realize Wallace is going to be out thought it would have been reported by now, thats very concerning, he keeps the backline running fluidly, Spence will always straighten and take contact at 12, not good.

Re: Edinburgh V Cardiff Blues
I heard that Wanneburg has a knock but can play through it (hardly ideal but I guess he'll be fine). Scan on Henry all clear. Wallace could well have been judged concussed, meaning that he'll be out (along with Afoa that's a key loss).
The argument as to battled hardened vs fresh will of course be judged with hindsight, but because the turnaround for Edinburgh would have been so short, and because Edinburgh have no depth in their squad, it was a good call I think.

Blues supporters need to have a good hard look at themselves - this was the last home game for some great servants - Nugget, Melon, Blair .....etc. I know they want to go back to CAP, but to choose this game to boycott ?

they've been boycotting the last few Penfro, not just this one.
Think it's just completely poor form though for this game, Martyn, Geth, Molitika and the others have given so much over the years, they deserved so, SO much better.

Re: Edinburgh V Cardiff Blues
There's no organised boycott, it's just people don't want to pay £22 to Cardiff City Football Club. It's a shame they didn't get a big send off, but hopefully this has opened PT & Co's eyes that CCS is not a viable option and only ever was had we been selling out the CAP for several years and the demand was there.

I guess it is somewhat disheartening playing your last game for a club after several seasons and looking around at an empty stadium, must have felt like a training session.

Must also have felt like the fans don't give a F about you either - particularly after the last Welsh derby when it sounded like a Scarlets home game

Re: Edinburgh V Cardiff Blues
Blues considering 3 options as regards to home fixtures next year, permanent change to CAP, mixture of games at CCS and CAP and the current one of playing at the CCS regardless.
How they would move back to CAP permanently would require someone with a hell of allot of money and a genius of a negotiator to get out of that contract. The mixture wouldn't work either, as we've seen for the bigger games this season, they still get small crowds. If you play at a home stadium you would want it full or near enough for every game. 11,000 at CAP is an intimidation atmosphere, whereas 11,000 in CCS, although a decent figure for a regional game, but looks awful at the CCS and sounds more like 6,000.
I would prefer CAP to be regenerated and thus the MS can be fully built into the bowl structure it was intended to be.

Re: Edinburgh V Cardiff Blues
Perhaps the low attendance was due to the non-competitive selection by Edinburgh.Still a shock for their players to have over 3000 turn up.
Blues should have offered discounted prices for this discounted game.
Bit of a shame for the Blues stalwarts that were taking a bow today.
Cannot really blame Edinburgh as they rested their 6/7 decent players.

Says something especially when Dragons, who are routinely slagged off as the 4th region with poor support, can get that attendance for a nothing LV cup game.
Still maybe the Blues fans can get what they want from this boycott - ie Games moved back to the CAP, with the Blues paying for the CCS, paying to redevelop the CAP, and having all their fans of the Amlin semi glory days rushing back - ohh wait there's a max capacity of 10k at the CAP, so not all will be able to fit...
