Ideal Commentary Teams

I was thinking about the current commentary set up and who would make each show better.

Raw
Michael Cole (back how he was as a neutral)
William Regal

Smackdown
Josh Mathews
Matt Striker

I would do one for NXT,but it is just an awful,awful show in its current format.

What would be your ideal teams based on who is available?

NXT is quality at the moment. I really enjoy it. It's a good little standalone show

It needs some kind of belt or justification towards what they are fighting for. I am struggling to think back to the start of this series but wasn't there a contract for the winner of the series.
If they had a bound for glory series type contest and the winner got the NXT belt or something similar,it would add value to the show in my opinion.

I agree, I think it should have a belt.

I think the winner of this season of NxT's prize was to get a spot in next season's NxT

Regal, Cole, Mathews on Raw

Booker, Striker on Smackdown

I think its safe to say Jerry Lawlers time has come to an end.
He has been so bland and sounds like he doesn't care most of the time.don't get me wrong,during the attitude era,he was great but since around 2003 he has not offered anything in value

JR and King on Raw (2 more years at least left in them)

Cole, Booker and Regal on Smackdown

Striker and Josh on NXT/Superstars

Michael Cole, Josh Mathews and Jim Ross would be more than enough for Raw, with Cole, Mathews and Booker T for Smackdown.

Lawler needs to retire or be retired.

King is a better snide heel than face. And he's better with JR.

like everything in the wwe though management cant see the obvious i expect King to stay as long as he wants despite how annoying he is

Just over 12 months ago he had 2 title matches, 1 on a PPV and appeared at wrestlemania and he was in this years rumble.

Like you said no way he will be future endeavoured anytime soon.

Sum sit up for me. Totally agree and I've thought it for a while, he sounds like he doesn't care and can have an effect on the match quality. The match may actually be quite good, but because of his bland commentary you get bored with it easily, or it is in my case anyway. He was great around 2003 with JR, especially with the hot divas aorund like Trish, Lita..'Look JR, PUPPIES!!'.

Now, he can barely be bothered to make a comment, or if he does, its 'shut up Cole' which is just lame. Regal needs some time on one of the main brands, and so does Striker, Striker for me sounds like he genuinely loves the business and reacts like a fan would react. One moment springs to mind when Booker T returned at the rumble a few years back, he went nuts and the other commentators were asking him to calm down, he responded saying 'I don't care I am marking out!!!'. Great stuff.

CM Punk should be on all shows. The guy is gold on commentary....especially when he has Scott Stanford to insult.
