Re: Awards
Manager of The Season
Pete
In a great position in the league and in the final of the Heiniken Cup. Could have been one of 4 or 5 but have given it to Pete. I think the balance of his side is always perfect. Pooly also deserves a mention with his work signing players just before the became important England players (Barritt and Parling).
Most Improved Manager
In the Fast Lane
I was concerned for ITFL in the summer as he seemed to be dismantiling his great side but he has built it back together and then some. On paper his side is as good as any this year and has some player like Healy and SOB who steal the headlines and the players who tie things together like JMF Lobbe and Louis Deacon. Really great work this season.
Player of The Year
Sam Whitelock
I picked this after thinking about the player who I think really standsout in predo's and I always seem to be thinking how well Whitelock would do in the Bath pack. I suspect he is en route to becoming the world's best player.
Discovery of The Year (Foreign)
Peter O'Mahony
I wasn't entirely sure who he was when the bidding war began on him and I certainly didn't know he would have such an impact for SJE. He has been a revelation for Munster and completes an excellent back row for Sale.
Discovery of The Year (EQ)
Ben Morgan
Can't really look past him to be honest. May has been good but Morgan has surprised most with how he has adapted to the England side. Massive signing for Worcester and has been worth his expensive price tag.
Team of The Year
15. Kurtley Beale (Bath Rugby)
14. James O'Connor (Newcastle Falcons)
13. Conrad Smith (London Irish)
12. Dan Bowden (London Wasps)
11. Cory Jane (Leicester Tigers)
10. Jonny Sexton (Sale Sharks)
9. Dwayne Peel (Worcester Warriors)
1. Soane Tonga'uhia (London Irish)
2. Bismark Du Plessis (Saracens)
3. Adam Jones (Saracens)
4. Richie Gray (Gloucester Rugby)
5. James Hudson (Exeter Chiefs)
6. Stephen Ferris (Gloucester Rugby)
7. Chris Robshaw (Newcastle Falcons)
8. Sergio Parisse (Northampton Saints)
Most Improved of The Year
Is this most improved team? If so then its Worcester.
Best Tactics
This is tough. I tend to find Luke's are very good so I will go with him.
Overall Clubman of The Year (League Managers)
I'm going to go with Arry. He is having a busy time outside this game by the sounds of it with A levels and the temptation to pack this in must have been there but I'm glad he hasn't as it would leave us needing to find another manager and I worry for the game when that happens. He is still committed to this game with a tough side and I often find him losing games which I don't think he should be and we all know how annoying that can be when you think you have enough to win the game.
This could have gone to Matt with all his world tours it must be difficult to keep to the timetable (although having a mint side must help)

Was gutted to lose out to SJE for POM in that bidding war Steve. Think he will go on to be Ireland's best backrower over the next 3-5 years.

Re: Awards
Manager of The Season
Tough call. Luke has moved Tigers to next level, Matt has put together great run after dire start. Prop has brought Worcester on leaps, Driver has toughed it out and come so close to staying up after a great 2nd half to season. Steve has done wonders, SJE another pushing for top 4. Thought Sarries would struggle a little after some risky deals but worked out great. Arry was crippled by retirements but has dealt really well, ITFL has come on leaps with tactics and his master plan seems to work. Chris took a bumming at start of season but some astute signings and he's form team in league.
Anyway....Nick gets my vote. Thought Irish might struggle this year but some cracking deals and probably the most honest/unbiased manager in the league. The amount of times he slags off his players makes me laugh.
Most Improved Manager
ITFL, prop a very close 2nd
Player of The Year
Castrogiovani - makes a big difference to Irish pack
Discovery of The Year (Foreign)
Goosen - total steal and looks to have a huge future
Discovery of The Year (EQ)
Hopper possibly for Chris. Faded a little towards the end of season but was electric first.
Team of The Year
1. Corbs
2. BdP
3. Franks

Re: Awards
Manager of The Season
Pete for me. Loves taking his risks during the pre season but again this year they have paid off. Always in the running for the big prizes and great balance and tactics every week.
Most Improved Manager
ITFL. Has done wonders with his Bath side and has genuine world class pleyers across the team these days. Prop deserves a mention for his efforts with Worcester.
Player of The Year
Not overly sure who to give this too. Think Pocock has been key to Luke and was a great signing so I'll give it to him.
Discovery of The Year (Foreign)
Wesley Fofanna. Was gutted to be outbidded for him. Has been immense for club and country. Could have opted for Goosen here but to be fair the nature of the u21 bids was to make discoveries and there have been a few success stories there.
Discovery of The Year (EQ)
Tiny bit of self promotion here but Ben Spencer has to be up there as does Hooper for Chris. Both picked up relatively cheapily from nationals and have turned out to be main EQ players to both sides
Team of The Year
1. Tonga
2. BDP
3. Castro
4. Gray
5. POC

Manager of The Season
Pooly. Has built a great squad full of internationals but also has stayed strong throughout WC and 6N.
Most Improved Manager
ITFL. Thought Bath would struggle early on now they are up there with the best.
Player of The Year
Tough one, trying to think of the player who sometimes sways my decision in predictions. Sexton is close, but for me Warburton does so much for Quins pack so I'll go for him.
Discovery of The Year (Foreign)
Wesley Fofanna. All you have to do is look at Saints form since he has come in the side. Immense.

Re: Awards
Manager of The Season - Pooly
Sensational team that he has managed to keep on improving. Latest addition of Best adds serious form to his front row. Always active, and challenging on all fronts. Shout out goes to matt for very similar reasons.
Most Improved Manager - ITFL
Easy decision. Thought he was struggling to move his side forward, but some astute deals landed him a changed side, and went on a great run this season.
Player of The Year - Dusuatoir
You see his name on Pete's teamsheet and you automatically give his side the edge in the back row. Outstanding rugby player that gives Sarries a distinct advantage.
Discovery of The Year (Foreign) - Fofana (Nacewa)
I'd vote for Nacewa if he wasn't in my side, great to have a top player all year round. But Fofana had an unbelievable 6N, and partnered with Tuilagi gives Saints incredible back line runners.
Discovery of The Year (EQ) - Morgan
Only one option, great signing that was worth every penny.
Team of The Year
1. Wood
2. Brits
3. Jones
4. Grey
5. Horwill
6. Dusuatoir
7. Warburton
8. Morgan
9. Peel
10. Sexton
11. Sharples
12. Fofana
13. Davies
14. JOC
15. Nacewa
Most Improved of The Year - Worcester
Great job done and looking difficult opposition for anyone.
Best Tactics - SJE
Very strong in this area. Might struggle some weeks with 10 bullet points
Overall Clubman of The Year (League Managers) - Driver
Tough to finish bottom but someone has to. Some may have just left but activity strong as ever. Really commendable. Couple of good deals and not a million miles away from a good side.

Re: Awards
Manager of the Season - Pete
Incredible team, so many quality players in every position. Really good balance to his side. Dedicates so much time to the league and always puts out good tactics. He is one very shrewd operator.
Most improved manager - ITFL
Really impressed with the job he has done at Bath. Like many I raised an eyebrow at some of his earlier dealings in the transfer market, however he has really moulded Bath into an impressive outfit with some astute additions.
Player of the year – Sam Warburton
Can’t say enough about how good a player I think he is. Inspirational is the word that comes to mind, he tackles, carries and competes in every single department. Outstanding player that is up there with the likes of McCaw and Pocock.
Discovery of the year – Ben Morgan
Makes international rugby look easy. From builder to England number eight who’d have thought it?! Really good player that will only get better. Key player for Worcester, very clever signing by Prop.
Team of the year
1. Corbisiero
2. Brits
3. Cole
4. Gray
5. Horwill

7. Warburton (c)
8. Morgan
9. Pienaar
10. Sexton
11. North
12. Barritt
13. Davies
14. Ioane
15. Kearney
Most improved team of the year – Bath; come on leaps and bounds, like I said earlier very good, clever signings, a real threat now.
Best Tactics – Steven, always makes good, valid points that are simple and easy to understand.
Overall clubman of the year – Mat, always seems to be on the move/busy but still finds the time to be active.

Re: Awards
You lost Jauzion (when he was in great form), Evans, Alexander, Brussow, Fourie, Best and maybe others.
You lost what I thought was easily the best backline in the league so was a bit concerned.

Re: Awards
Manager of The Season
Pete: When you look at the players he lost at the start of the season, Priestland, Pocock, Jane, Lawes, etc for what I considered to be risky deals but they have come through on the whole. He is always challenging for trophies and puts out good side week after week.
Most Improved Manager
Prop: Prop has had a great season, lots of good transfer dealing both domestically and abroad. He has found the tactics that suit his players and could be a real threat next season for top 6.
Player of The Year
James O'Connor: Whenever I see him in the Newcastle team I instantly think well that has a big say in the outcome of the backs. One of my favourite players in the world who I think is one of the reasons Pooly is top.
Discovery of The Year (Foreign)
Wesley Fofana: Since this signing Chris' fortunes have changed and I think we all know why. Showed his capabilities in the 6N at the highest level
Discovery of The Year (EQ)
Ben Morgan: No question really, what a player Prop has here.
Team of The Year
1. Marcos Ayerza
2. Bismarck Du Plessis
3. Carlos Nieto
4. Bakkies Botha
5. James Horwill
6. Thierry Dusatoir
7. David Pocock
8. Ben Morgan

Manager of The Season - pete
Freshened up his team and took gambles that paid off. In to both finals great effort.
Lll deserves praise
For
A great tigers side
Most Improved Manager - ITFL
Prop 2nd
Player of The Year - JOC
You see his name on Team sheet and you expect magic. A bit shaky in defence in centre but the guy is simply magic and most talented player about
Discovery of The Year (Foreign) - Steven Kitschoff pete has done a cracking bit of business signing him from pooly who discovered him.
Fofana great signing but was more established
Discovery of The Year (EQ) - Morgan
Only one option, great signing that was worth every penny.

Tough to finish bottom but someone has to. It's tough losing quite a few games. League much closer this year and next year will be even closer

Manager of The Season - Steven_Sharks
Just missed out on the play offs this season, but has built a squad that is going to be a serious force from next season onwards. His plan was to challenge for the play offs next season, but his gambles came off early and was in the hunt right to the final game of the season.
Most Improved Manager - prop_lyd
Got Leeds relegated last season and had a job on his hands with promoted Worcester this year, but has steadily improved his squad and team selections week on week. A few more tweaks in the summer and could be challenging for a Heineken Cup spot next time around.

Can't separate these two guys. If Driver hadn't taken the league on at the start of the season when I was struggling for time and enthusiasm then we may not even have a league now, and SJE is always there to help me out when things need doing and does a lot behind the scenes. Big thank you to both of you.
Will try to do the other categories tomorrow if I get a chance.
