I know this is harsh after a brutal match but I hope his speech was off camera.

He isn't telling a story if he's just told everyone he is being sent for/needs a break rather than injured.

Quality ppv, strong throughout.

Highlights:

Punk vs Jericho - Better than at Wrestlemania
Bryan vs Sheamus - Awesome match
Layla returning :-D
Cena vs Brock - Great match
Cena winning and his very emotional speech at the end (unlike ent I thought it was a great move and made the match seem very ufc like which was a great move, at the time it was a great promo and the crowd cheered for him. Can I ask if its just a hatred of Cena from you?)

Star of the night?

Apparently Lesnar had the Kimora hold locked into Cena so tight that Cena was heard on camera shouting 'ease up' to Lesnar. There are a few reports online slating Lesnar for jeopardising Cena's safety and being far too stiff. If Cena's shoulder is legit injured because of Brock executing the hold too hard then Lesnar shouldnt be anywhere near a WWE ring. He wasnt the safest worker when he had his last WWE run and it seems his UFC stint has gone to his head.

My guess is that Cena was planning to take time off anyway and they're using the injury angle for him to take the time off. Cena has been confirmed for the lead role in The Marine 3 so it makes sense that he's away. The whole 'UFC' style match from Lesnar was blatently planned but Lesnar was just a bit too stiff at times. Both guys were busted open the hard way, im not sure either was intended!

Be interesting to see what Triple H has to say tonight on Raw. It wouldnt suprise me if Lesnar didnt see out his year contract though.

Im sure vince has brock tied in tight, if the $5 million dolllar fee is true then there are 5 million reasons why brock will see out that contract, Vince will have a claus saying he gets nothing if he doesnt stay. The match had to be worked stiff it was the only way for it to go, Im sure cena loved it, it made him look genuine tough for the first time in years. I hate cena but last night you had to tip your hat to him.

Yes and no gregers, it's just typical cena.

We've a great brutal match which tells a story and suspends our belief. Setting up a story line for the future.

Then cena gets on the mic and ruins it all, everyone now knows he ha a break planned and this physicality was all set up around it.

I didnt mean in terms of Brock walking away i meant the WWE releasing him. If he is a liability in ring, jeopardises the safety of others and is deemed as being unprofessional, why would the WWE want to book him against their top guys for 12 months? I dont think Brock did legit injure Cena's shoulder but his 'smash mouth' approach was very close to the line. If that is the way all of his matches are going to be booked i cant see any top tier stars like Orton, Taker, Rock wanting to work with him. I know the aggressive nature of the match was intended but he needs to tone it down a bit, and that nature of match wont work against the other guys, he needs to go back to 'wrestling' as apposed to 'MMA' style matches.

He looked pretty safe last night to me and did take the 2 biggest bumps himself. That Kimora wasn't anywhere near tight.

It was a great match but everything about it has rubbed me up the wrong way.

Signing Lesnar for $5million, unveiling his return early, putting cena in that type of match with him, big ref bumps, superman cena booking and self satisfying promo at the end.

Anyone else feel WWE has come pretty close to the line with this?

I have two views on Cena's speech on the end.

1. Cena is genuinely annoyed that he had to lose to The Rock at Wrestlemania, only for The Rock to leave etc. It could have been a big moment for Cena but instead they went down a route which so far doesn't seem to have any positive outcome.

2. The more cynical view is that they're trying to make Cena sound a bit like CM Punk, with insider references and fighting 'the man', to gain some of Punk's popularity.

That's why I wanted Cena to win at Wrestlemania. Rock has just pi**ed off again and what do the WWE gain from that? If I was Cena I would have been outraged that I have to work for years on end and I still lose to a guy who comes back for like a month if that.

Think WWE have messed up a bit with Cena, they should either have had him go over as the all conquering face of the genration, or have him hit bottom and head for redemption, itstead he's stuck in some funny middle ground, loser to the Rock who wont be back for ages, but victor over Lesnar, who will be around a wee bit more but will now need to rebuild his momentum being 0-1 in his return

A very very good ppv and worth the £14:95

Good opening match between Kane and Orton. Im guessing thats there feud over. I cant help wonder if Orton will be main eventing over the limit dont know if anyone saw the promo for that.

Layla is back Yahoo

Very good match between Shaemus and Daniel Bryan. It was a very quick and technical match. I wouldnt acctually mind seeing them have one more match.

CM Punk and Chris Jericho again lived up to the hype. Best match of the night for me. Brutel at times and good spots. End of feud? I think so. Jericho is off soon i think anyway.

Finally John Cena vs Brock Lesnar. I really enjoyed what WWE did here, they got it spot on through out expect ...

Cena winning. I would of given the win to Lesnar. Still very good match none the less. Good to have Lesnar and also amazing to see blood. I wonder what is next for Cena after his speech after the match. Also i wonder what is next for Lesnar.

Big news from last night. HHH will be at Raw tonight

Main Event was like a car wreck. It was a brutel, very physical and was something different to a standard wrestling match with some stiff shots throughout. Brock looked a legit monster busting Cena open after 30 seconds, and was dominant even with the ref, I do agree that he did sell the finish well & will be interesting to see how this pans out on Raw tonight. My bets, If Cena does appear, Lesnar will "Take" him out so Cena can have a break/filming.

The Y2J/Punk match was excellent as always and what would would expect from these two. For me a contender for match of the year no matter what happens for the rest of 2012. I do feel that perhaps this feud is now on it's last legs & with it being well documented that Y2J will be going on a short break to tour with his band in June, perhaps a 3-way match at the May PPV, so Punk can then move onto who ever fills in the 3rd spot.

For what it's worth that's 2 decent back-to-back PPV's from WWE now with dream matches headlining both shows. Well done OK I only hope it can stay the same

Oh and the return of Layla Yahoo seems like forever since she was last in the ring!

Lesnar looked a liability to me; stiff is an understatement!

Loved it though and really bought into the whole story of the match and was buzzing when Cena got the win. Also actually i liked the speech at the end as for the first time in ages WWE seemed edgy and blurred the lines between fiction and reality

Plus i disagree that the Punk match was special....it was okay - boring in places but i haven't enjoyed the feud atall so maybe that is why! All i would say is Punk needs to improve his high flying manouvers before he can be the best in the world Doh

At which points?

I thought he was very good considering the nature of the match, Brock was landing cuffing blows and maybe only really 'caught' him once with an elbow and a heavy but not damaging knee. Cena caught Brock with an elbow too.

Really the bumps to the outside and the AA on the steps where the riskiest of the night.

If you want to see a stiff clothesline take a look at Ryback.

The fact Brock has busted Cena open twice (and potentially injured his bicep) in the space of 3 weeks tells me he is a liability

and Brocks clothesline was just as bad as Rybacks!

Awesome PPV.

The undercard was decent but the three main events were brilliant.

Bryan Vs. Sheamus was a great match. It made Bryan look very good and a complete bad ass when he got purposely dq'd so he could carry on attacking Sheamus's arm. It made Bryan look very strong having make Sheamus pass out. Bryan was amazing in this match.

CM Punk Vs. Chris Jericho, this was a very good match. Some good spots and plenty of back and forth action, enjoyed it a lot.

The main event was great apart from the finish. Brock Lesnar looked like a complete bad ass throughout. I loved the way WWE booked this match using Lesnar's MMA background, I thought it came off very well. Cena going over didn't make much sense though, especially as it looks like he's taking time off. It would have have been better I think if Brock made Cena pass out after a kimora, and "breaking" Cena's arm, so then he can have his time off. Then we could have Lesnar dominate throughout the summer, and have Cena return with a different attitude (more serious) and have a re-match at SummerSlam were Cena could then go over.

Overall 8/10.

Again there is debate over wether the blood was deliberate or not or if there was blading - cena made Brock bleed too.

As for the kimura, honestly it didn't look that tight - you can youtube it to see people subbed by it.

Didn't think Brock stiffed cena really.

I know this kind of thing is old hat to y'all other wresting fans, but I wrote a piece on Extreme Rules on my blog, Thorpe's Sporting Thoughts. It's generally written with people who are more casual watchers in mind rather than flat out IWC-based fans, but any feedback is greatly appreciated (even the withering sarcasm).
