Snooker World Cup
Does anyone know if there is going to be a Snooker World Cup Team Competition this year, and if there is will Essex be allowed to field their own team consisting of Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ali Carter and Mark King which can easily win such a competition against a any other team fielded by another country as well as any Rest of England team combination.

Mark King wouldn't even beat the lowest ranked Fijian players.

What about a Leicester team of Mark Selby and Willie Thorne with Gary Lineker making up the third member?

Re: Snooker World Cup
however if we kicked essex out of england , a team of trump selby and gould would be pretty decent competition against an essex team

Showing my age but the 1970s 'dream team' was Wales with Reardon, Griffiths and Mountjoy. England owned the 1980s with Davis with any 2 from 3 in the shape of White, Knowles and Meo. 1990s had Scotland in charge with messrs Hendry, Higgins and McManus.
Somehow I can't envisage Mark King being part of any future 'dream team.'

What about the second string Wales team that they could have put out in that World Cup competition during the 1980's had Wales managed to win it during that time. Cliff Wilson, Steve Newbury and Tony Chappel?

Poor old Ireland would struggle to put 3 decent players together right now

Also don't forget about Dublin's finest snooker player since Ken Doherty, a certain Joe Delaney! His inclusion will then give the Republic of Ireland a very strong 3 man snooker team to play against any other 3 man team. What about a 3 man Northern Ireland team? Obviously there is Mark Allen and Joe Swail, but who else is there apart from these 2 - Dennis Taylor perhaps?

I forgot about Gerard Greene. There is also Patrick Wallace as well. But for me no Northern Ireland World Cup team is the same without the great Dennis Taylor.

What about an over 50's team of Jimmy White, Steve Davis and Willie Thorne. 2 potential top 32 players and one who is so critical of the play of all current players he must be better than them.

Green and Wallace are not exactly that good anymore, not is Swail. Allen is the leader from NI and Doherty is still leading for the republic. Not much hope there for the Irish in a World cup.

Apparently there is another young player coming up through the junior ranks who is from Northern Ireland. His name is Jordan Brown and there is a profile of him on this following weblink :- http://prosnookerblog.com/players/a-c/jordan-brown/. Looking at him he looks like a young Steve Davis!

Junior ranks? He'll be 25 this year not exactly a hot prospect is he? I'm beginning to think it's going to be a Chinese domination within 10 years. I'm hoping Judd doesn't become disillusioned.
