It's particularly fitting that try of the season came against Edinburgh!
Well done Visser and Hogg. Hopefully that duo can form an awesome partnership for Scotland over the coming years.

Re: Rabo awards
Is the Chairman award an annual award? It seems a little weird and almost as if they've conjured an award just for Shane!
Can't really argue with any of those awards ... except of course the try of the season, everyone knows the Scarlets always score the most dazzling tries!

Shame they couldn't have invented another award for Chris Paterson whilst they were at it!

Well if Visser becomes a Scottish international then he won't play as many games next season, therefore he won't have as many opportunities to score tries. It's all complex stuff being a Pro12 player AND an International (as you've alluded to on another thread )
Meanwhile, Visser is a ruthless tryline player and deserves his accolade.

Re: Rabo awards
Still think Lineen should have got the coach award given the resources he has compared to Joe Schmidt at Leinster. Also would have been another tremendous kick in the bags to those SRU numpties !

Re: Rabo awards
I heard that Lineen was up for the manager award until he picked John Barclay at 8, and Stuart Hogg at centre.....
Joe Schmidt the right decision. Leinster have been awesome.

Re: Rabo awards
No suprise at all for Dirksens try for try of the season, it was magnificent.
Starts at 22 seconds.

Catches a bad pass in his 22, dummies to kick over the top, shimmies full back Chris Patterson inside, then sprints outside him, then hands him off, which sends him colliding into left wing Tim Visser. Chips the ball over an on coming Edinburgh player, catches the ball. Swerves left to evade Visser trying to tackle him from behind. Sprints round another player to his left, then between another 2 players (Tom Brown and Netani Talei) to score under the sticks.
Who cares if he is a German, South African who once played for the USA, that is world class, and hopefully soon Welsh!

Congrats to Sexton for getting the golden boot award and only featuring 6 times in the Rabo this season.

Yeah you'd have to query that one a bit, I wonder how many of those kicks were conversions in front of the posts.

Now I see. To qualify for selection you have to have attempted at least 10 kicks at goal during the season.
So it's possible to win the golden boot by kicking 10 goals in one game.
Mmm.

Was that another of those Gentlemans agreements? I wonder if he is going to scroe the final try for the Baabaas against Wales too. Being serious I appreciate all that Shane Williams has done, but lets be honest he doesn't really deserve any Rabo award seeing as he has played under 10 games in the league this season.

Re: Rabo awards
I think you might call it an Honourary Oscar. The old guy didn't necessarily do any directing, acting, cinematography or bad cameoing in the year he collects but we don't mind... his speech usually lacks the youf cringe factor of badly acted tears ...which is always a bonus.
