England's 42-man Squad?
http://sportinglife.aol.co.uk/rugby-union/news/article/22884/7742822/youngs-gets-surprise-england-call
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/international/england/9255806/Englands-Stuart-Lancaster-to-continue-bold-and-young-selections-for-tour-squad-to-South-Africa.html
Based on the 6N squad, covers called up and the additions mentioned in the articles...??
Corbisero, Cole, Stevens, Marler, PDJ, Mullan
Hartley, Mears, Gray, Youngs
Palmer, Parling, Botha, Robson, Attwood, Launchbury
Robshaw, Morgan, Haskell, Fearns, Dowson, Waldrom
Youngs, Care, Dickson, Dickson
Flood, Farrell, Hodgson
Barritt, JTH
Tuilagi, Trinder, Lowe
Ashton, Strettle, Monye, Wade, Banahan
Foden, Brown, Goode
If that is the case, the omissions from my preference would be Garvey (for Attwood or Launchbury), Burns (instead of the 4th SH), Allen/Twelvetrees (in place of JTH to offer something different or Trinder who has been injured for a couple of months), May & Joseph (for Monye & Banahan - smaller options but there's plenty of size in the centres and the Boks' have got a number of smaller faster back 3 players themselves, Aplon, Lambie, Habana).
Interesting comment in the Sporting Life article that Fearns had been heading to SA anyway on loan to the Stormers if he hadn't been called up.
- Spoiler:
- Leicester hooker Tom Youngs is understood to have been included in England's 42-man squad for the daunting five-match tour of South Africa, despite never having started an Aviva Premiership match in the position.
Youngs, 25, is a converted centre and his Premiership experience is limited to just 12 appearances off the bench for Leicester, nine of which came this season.
But with Rob Webber and Chris Brooker injured, it is believed Youngs has been selected alongside his scrum-half brother Ben as one of four hookers in England's touring party.
England head coach Stuart Lancaster will announce his full squad for the three-Test tour on Thursday and Youngs will be among a host of uncapped players.
Lancaster has also recalled Danny Care after the Harlequins scrum-half was excluded from the Six Nations on disciplinary grounds, along with James Haskell, who was unavailable for the championship as he was playing in Japan.
Bath flanker Carl Fearns will provide back-row options following tour-ending injuries to Tom Croft and Tom Wood, while there are doubts over the fitness of Ben Morgan.
The Wasps pair of wing Christian Wade and lock Joe Launchbury, two of the Aviva Premiership's brightest prospects, have been rewarded for outstanding seasons in a struggling side.
They will be joined in the squad by the uncapped Harlequins quartet of centre George Lowe, lock George Robson, hooker Joe Gray and prop Joe Marler.
Lancaster has also brought some experienced internationals back into the England fold, most notably the Harlequins pair of Care and Ugo Monye.
Care was excluded from England's Six Nations squad on disciplinary grounds following his arrest, and subsequent conviction, for drink driving, but he has been given a second chance by Lancaster.
"I'm on my last chance now and I have a lot to prove to lots of people," Care said.
"I still owe Harlequins an awful lot and I owe Stuart a lot. To have the opportunity to play for England taken away was a very hard lesson to learn, but I will not be making the mistake again."
Monye has not played a Test for England since the 2010 Six Nations, when he lost his place on the wing to Chris Ashton and then saw David Strettle and Charlie Sharples overtake him.
Sharples will miss the tour due to a shoulder injury while Croft has undergone a neck operation. Wood is still plagued by the foot injury that forced him to miss the Six Nations.
Youngs made his only Premiership starts as a hard-hitting centre before being converted to hooker by the current South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer during his brief time in charge at Leicester.
After two years learning his new craft at Nottingham, Youngs returned to Leicester where he has been George Chuter's regular understudy this season.
Youngs and Gray join Dylan Hartley, who has been selected despite not having played since the Six Nations after being banned for biting, and Lee Mears as the hooking options.
Fearns was always going to South Africa this summer, having agreed to join the Stormers Super Rugby side on loan if he did not have any England commitments.
The call came from England forwards coach Graham Rowntree while he was playing golf on Wednesday.
England play the Barbarians at Twickenham on May 30, the day after the Premiership final, before embarking on their first ever three-Test series in South Africa.
The midweek fixtures will be against teams comprised of South Africa's best Currie Cup players.

- Spoiler:
- Youngs, the older brother of Leicester team-mate and England scrum-half Ben, will go on tour as one of three hookers in the squad despite having made just nine appearances from the bench for his club this season.
The 25 year-old’s elevation is even more remarkable because he switched to hooker only three years ago, having represented England Under-20 and Sevens at centre.
Youngs’s mobility and scrummaging prowess has caught Lancaster’s eye and he has been earmarked as having the potential to become a top international by the 2015 World Cup.
Wade, who is 20, has just finished his first season in professional rugby, scoring nine tries in 15 Premiership games for Wasps despite being out for three months with a groin injury.
The former England Under-20 and Sevens player is still learning his trade but has rapidly established himself as a clinical finisher in the Premiership.
Other new faces in the squad for the three-Test tour include Wasps lock Joe Launchbury, Bath flanker Carl Fearns and uncapped Harlequins quartet George Robson (lock), George Lowe (centre), Joe Gray (hooker) and Joe Marler (prop).
It is understood Sale prop Henry Thomas, 20, had been earmarked for selection but was ruled out after being injured on Saturday. His place is set to be taken by Worcester’s Matt Mullan, alongside fellow props Alex Corbisiero, Dan Cole, Paul Doran-Jones, Marler and Matt Stevens.
There will be recalls for Harlequins duo, wing Ugo Monye, who won the last of his 13 caps in March 2010, and scrum-half Danny Care. Loose forward James Haskell will also be back in the fold, despite playing in the Super 15 as both Tom Croft and Tom Wood are ruled out because of injury and Calum Clark serving a long ban.
England are understood to be confident that Scarlets No 8 Ben Morgan’s hamstring injury will not prevent him from touring, while Steffon Armitage, despite being widely hailed as the best flanker in the Top 14, is not thought to have been included.
Meanwhile, Chris Ashton remains a doubt for Northampton’s Premiership semi-final against Harlequins because of a back injury.

Would have liked to have seem S.Armitage involved personally.
I also thought Anthony Allen had all but been told he was going on tour ....

SL's basically already told Allen he's on the plane. With Catt joining the staff, I'd be surprised not to see Joseph in there too, and I think May will be included for his versatility and proven talent.

Re: England's 42-man Squad?
I'll be very disappointed if JJ doesn't go.
Steffon Armitage isn't available for selection, as the tour overlaps with the end of the Top 14 season (playoffs and final).

Shame about Armitage, but you can understand his lack of inclusion due to availability. Autum internationals will be the time to have a look at him.
I would think now that Catt is coach that Joseph would definately be on the plane.
Why oh why are people still talking about Banahan!

Guardian says that Joseph is in:

Leicester's reserve hooker Tom Youngs, elder brother of Ben, is among those in line for a call-up, along with the Exeter flanker Tom Johnson, the 21-year-old Wasps forward Joe Launchbury and the Saracens full-back Alex Goode. They can expect to be joined by London Irish's exciting centre Jonathan Joseph and the Harlequins hooker Joe Gray.

Re: England's 42-man Squad?
More centres have been listed in the papers as selected than possibly can have been. Barritt, JTH, Allen, Tuilagi, Trinder, Lowe and Joseph. Someone's got to miss out from that lot. Not sure who I'd go for though. Maybe Trinder.

Re: England's 42-man Squad?
I personally would bring in May for Monye and Benjamin for Banahan.
My 12s would be Barritt,Allen and JTH.
My 13s would be Joseph,Lowe and Tuilagi
I wouldn't include Haskell.
Leave out K.Dickson bring in B.Spencer.

Well, I'm glad the sneak preview articles didn't have the whole story, that Allen & Joseph made the cut and that Banahan didn't.
