Prediction League
Hoping to set up a prediction league. They are doing it on the football board at the start of next season. Anyone interseted please let me know by posting your name below. Trying to work out a points system thinking 1 point for correct winner of fight, 2 points for correct method of victory, 3 points for correct rounds. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Prediction League
Hiya Prettyboy.
Im currently running a fantasy wrestling league, and Gregers is doing a Wrestling prediction league.
If you need any pointers just give us a shout.
Once you get the members signed up and the point strategy sorted, just post an article each time there is an event for people to post their predictions on.
Set up a separate 'prediction league table article' which you can constantly edit with the updated tables following the events.

Re: Prediction League
Similar to what you suggested.
It depends on how many variables you want to include though.
On the wrestling one, there are points for the winner, style of win (pin or submission) and how the win happens (clean win, interference etc)
The points structure is your choice, whether you want say, 3pts for the winner, 4pts for the correct round, and 2pts for how the win happens (knock out, points win etc)
Its your call mate.

Re: Prediction League
You will get some when you put the fights up probably mate.
I'd suggest:
2 Points winner;
2 points method;
1 bonus point for decision type; Wide(=>12 rounds total)/ Close(<12 rounds)/ Split (or Majority) Decision
or 1 bonus point for stoppage type; Early(1-4), Middle (5-8.) and late (9-12) knockouts.

Re: Prediction League
Steiglitz-Gevor
Hall-Donnelly
Morales-Maidana
Guerrero-Katsidis
Malignaggi-Cotto
Garcia-Campbell
Lemieux-Rubio (friday)
Seem like a good mix, dunno if that's more than you wanted.
There's the schedule http://boxrec.com/date_search.php?yyyy=2011&mm=04&dd=09&SUBMIT=Go

Re: Prediction League
I run a Prediction League and am in most but always room for one more and I was in the original Five Live Prediction Leagues before the boards went to 606.
I'm in and thanks to prettyboy for running this.
For reference these are the rules I use and designed with another old Beeb member called Barlick. Feel free to use them.
Budweiser-Boxing Prediction League Rules
Rules and Regulations
The Budweiser-Boxing Prediction League will run on a week by week basis for a set period of time. (no longer than 3 months) 10 weeks is the usual.
Each entrant MUST leave a prediction for every fight, failure to do so will result in their picks being null and void.
My decision is FINAL and i reserve the right to change the fight list at any time.
A late change in opponent will result in the fight being void.
Please remember to Predict the type of win i.e WKO8th or WUD and not just KO or Points.
Each Week will contain on average 6 fights and one of those fights will be the Star fight which is worth double the amount of points, compared to a normal fight.
The result that is shown on Boxrec.com will be the result used for scoring.
Budweiser-Boxing Prediction League Scoring System
Predict the correct winner by UD 100 pts
Predict the correct winner by SD or MD 150 pts *Please note you must pick SD or MD not both.*
Wrong points prediction but winning fighter, e.g. predict a UD when result is SD 50 pts
Predict the draw 200 pts
Predict the correct winner and the exact round 150 pts
Predict a KO within 2 rounds either way, e.g., predict round 4, rounds 2, 3, 5 and 6 score 100 pts
For Predicting a KO outside 2 rounds either way, e.g., choosing a WKO4th but the Ko happens in the 10th 50 pts
Predicting the right fighter to win but the wrong outcome, e.g. predict a KO when the fight goes to points, or vice versa. 20 pts
Call ALL the correct winners in a week to earn a bonus 50 pts
If the fight is stopped due to a technical decision or DQ it will be counted as a round stoppage.
