over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
Well it's almost midday and we haven't got a thread for last nights PPV so thought I may as well put one up.
What did everybody think of it? What were your highs and lows for it?
I'll be honest I've only skimmed over it this morning before work but the results and appearances appeared to be what was expected.

Re: over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
I actually enjoyed the PPV, but it was very predictable. As always Judgement Day/ Over The Limit is one of the weakest. I'm assuming Christians turned face again now, that was the only real suprise. Enjoyed the two title matches, amd the tag match was good.
They need to take Brodus Clay off TV for a bit, or give him something meaningful that squash match against Miz was a waste of time.
Cena vs Johnny went exactly how I thought it would.

Re: over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
The PPV was very good however it was runied by the main event.
Tag Team match was good opening. I was hoping for a Ziggler face turn have a match with Swagger at No Way out and then have him win Raw Money in the bank. But seems WWE are still unsure of what to do with him.
Fatel 4 way match was class, i had high hopes for this match and it deliverd. Can see a Orton heel turn and a feud with Shaemus.
CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan was a 5 star match IMO. 2 superb wrestlers it really was a great match, the only match that got the crowd going aswell really. Hoping these 2 can feud right up till Summer Slam.
Christan face turn hopefully a rematch between him and Cody at No Way out another good match.
2 pointless matches with Ryback and Brodus. Ryback does look class though.
John Cena vs Johnny was too predictable and boring. Worst main event at a PPV in my view.
Have to say though standard of ppv have been very good this year. Mania, Rumble and Extreme Rules were all class. Elimintion Chamber and Over The Limit were both let down by the main event.

Re: over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
Here are my thoughts on things:
- Zack v Kane was predictable but it may be reasonable in future to push the "Internet Champ" as competing on the pre-show. Still the match could have been better - did it go 5 mins?
- The battle royal was a nice concept though I didn't like the idea of it starting as the titles of the main PPV were going.
- Liked Christian's return (and as a face) though I felt they should have come out immediately with him going for Cody. The backstage segment could have then been Cody trying to weasel out and Christian explaining his face turn
- Good tag match and great ending sequence though again Dolph takes the loss. Really hoping that Vickie etc will turn on him this evening (branding him the deadweight) and then Dolph can turn face and move up. His gimmick tweaked would be great as a face as he wants to be the most entertaining guy on the roster!
- Layla v Beth ... meh.
- The Fatal 4 Way match for me wasn't great. Sheamus won as he needed to and Jericho was pinned because they want to keep the other two strong but 15 mins wasn't long enough for it to feel special.
- Brodus squash match ... I really, really, really hate Brodus like I hate no other superstar on the roster. The stupid dancing, the stupid children... I was hoping he would stamp on those horrible little brats or something. Miz is a good guy with talent who has worked hard to get where he is (was) in the company. He deserves better than this.
- Christian beats Cody? I was hoping this was the start of a nice programme for them to elevate both and the IC title as well. Would have preferred to see Cody cheat to win on this occasion and have the face chase the title before maybe winning at Summerslam. Still, gave a nice comeback moment for Christian and Cody can claim he was just over confident.
- Punk v Bryan. Firstly commentators did a great job putting both over, see, when they work at it they can get it right... most of the time they are just lazy. Too often the face commentators forget they can praise the wrestling ability of a heel even if they don't like his character (this is something JR was always great at, particularly with HHH).
- Punk v Bryan. Good match and feels as though the feud has more miles in the tank, looked like they tried to replicate the Angle/Taker finish from a few years ago. Not sure if it was intention for Punk to tap after the 3 count or not though. DB has an out and this could go to more than this. I would hope another PPV match before a deciding 60 min Iron Man match to finish at MITB (can hope!)
- It seems this was put in to emphasise the wrestling element because WWE knew how bad the main event was going to be... Also, given the length of the main event and the 12 mins they had left that they didn't fill this one could have had an extra 5 - 10 easily.
- Ryback squash... meh.
- Cena v Johnny. My god that was bad. Some of the things Cena did to Johnny were mildly comedic, but this, surely, shouldn't be the case in a PPV main event? Basically it advertised Cena beating up someone with little to no ability to attack or defend themselves for most of it. There was too much slapstick honour in it and it went on for far too long. The ending was predictable with the only what if being whether Big Show willing was on Johnny's side or was being coerced in order to get his job back...
So, overall there were positives like Punk/Bryan, Christian back as a face and the tag match but for me the main event was as bad as I imagined and the F4W was not as good as I imagined and I ended up clock watching through some of it (which may be down to the fact that I am bored of Sheamus as Champion and these matches always seem like a race to get to the ending "everyone does their finishers and we have a scramble to see who will win" bit).
Overall 5/10

Punk Bryan was good
Sod the rest of it though. Didn't want sheamus to retain, he's boring.
Token diva and tag team matches as filler. Miz losing to clay.........really!!!
Main event was an effing joke. Also Just p!ss off big show, nobody has ever or will ever care about you

fatal 4 way was my fave match of the night, thought even Del rio put up a decent showing!
Punk vs Bryan was good, ending seemed a little botched but overall was good to watch
Cena vs big Johnny was mildly funny at the start but went on too long and lets face it, who didn't see that finish happening?!?!

Re: over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
Firstly one of the highlights of the show, Christian.
He is a personal favourite and I am glad he appears to have turned face however they didn't really address it and the crowd showed they were confused. 2 matches in a night (including a hard stipulation to do) after basically 5months out isn't bad going.
Fatal 4 way was a good match with a good showing from all and with lots of options left you can have
Sheamus vs Orton
Jericho vs Orton
Etc.. will be interesting to see about the scene for smackdown.
I skipped John vs Johnny until the ending after it was ruined by my bleacher report app on my ipod it was the obvious way to end it and the right way so i'm happy that they didn't change the ending to be unpredictable however in my opinion non wrestlers should be no where near PPV's other than when it's had a huge build up like Vince Mcmahon vs Austin.
My rule of not watching a diva's match until Kharma comes back...
Ryback looks pretty good but needs to be book correctly.
I'm fine with Miz losing to Brodus as long as it leads to some form of a feud.
I really thought that Ryder needed to win for any kind of feud to happen. If you remember their feud at about the Rumble ,Ryder didn't get any wins over Kane which annoyed me.
And finally.... Punk vs Bryan.....!
Not 5 stars but a very good match. Good paced but i thought that they could have done even better. Near falls , Near submissions and inventive moves. I definitely would have it at the end of the show. Can't get near a 5 stars as there was a 3 week turnaround and about 10 mins of hype for the match in them weeks. Finish was interesting I guess it warrants a rematch but we will have to see. I also botched my Gregers' prediction league and I pretty much got the finish right
And finally again i'm surprised about the crowd reaction to Punk vs Bryan and it's very good. CM Punk joked about VKM not having a clue who they were and that but imagine even 2years ago if you said this was a PPV main event for the title and how well the kids reacted to punk! I also think the commentators were a lot better than normal.

Re: over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
I have just finished watching it and I enjoyed it. It wasn't an all-time classic, but it was a decent watch in my opinion. Probably would have been annoyed if I'd stayed up specially for it, but it was all right.
I liked the fatal four way and although they're probably going with Sheamus against Orton, I'd probably pair Sheamus with Del Rio (until Barrett gets back) and Orton with Jericho. Still a decent match.
As others have mentioned, Punk Vs Bryan was very good and should probably get more in the next few months.
For me the main event wasn't that bad. I think some of the commentary really helped, with Michael Cole in particular shining here (when Cena got three bottles of water to pour on JL, Cole saying "if he drinks three bottles of water he's going to get cramp!" had me laughing). Although I (like many others) saw the ending coming, I think they did look to give it a bit of an edge in that Big Show genuinely came out with the intention of feeding Laurinitus to Cena and getting him terminated, but when Show had him by the throat JL told Show he'd give him his job back, which is why Show made the decision he did. I'll be interested to see where they go with that.
Other than that the Tag and IC matches were solid as you'd expect given who was competing in them. Ryback's match was what you'd expect, and I was a little disappointed with Clay's match. As a character he's not meant for you or me, he's obviously meant for a younger generation which is fine, but I think a Miz win would have done more for both wrestlers and could result in the storyline being progressed. As it is, Clay hasn't developed at all (maybe they just don't want him too) and Miz's spectacular fall from grace continues. Finally I thought the Divas match wasn't too bad, compared to what they are normally like.

Is Clay still undefeated? If they had any sense they could build up a Streak v Streak between Ryback & Clay.

Re: over the limit discussion (SPOILERS HIGHLY LIKELY)
So do I to a degree. I wouldnt say it was truly awful as it really did make me laugh quite a bit. But it was very predictable. As soon as John Laurinaitis started crawling away, I knew that he would get to the curtain, then Big Show would drag him back, feed him to John Cena but then screw Cena.
So while I didnt completely hate the match, it will go down as one of the worst main events ever.
