London Welsh - HENSON?
As it stands I think London Welsh have a case to go up despite the RFU not wanting them to on the grounds that the WRU might try and use it as a 5th Region.
So let’s imagine they do go up, could HENSON sign for them?
IMHO they could do worse, we all know on his day he is world class and a game winner.

I think London Welsh are not going up full stop. The WRU are happy to have both Wasps and London Irish (so so many welsh players there now) as our regions in the Jeff.

One more never hurts!
It could be a perfect fit for Mr Henson, he would be the star signing and the centre of attention, Maybe Shane Williams could extend his season long retirement for one more year.

About time you did an English related article rather than focusing all your efforts on your two favourite players (shane and gav).

It would be more than a bit of a gamble and if he went prima donna on them could be a fatal distraction. I agree it might work but what a risk!
Re: London Welsh - HENSON?
Considering that Ross guided them to an excellent tactical victory in the first leg of the playoffs and is a former Scotland international they don't really need him at 10. At 12 they have the far cheaper PI bosh option whose work rate is the back bone of their backline defence and who cut a very nice line for his try in same playoff first leg. Why would they need or want the expensive Henson?

I would say retaining Hudson Tonga'uiha is a far better options than Henson.

In all honesty Lyn Jones has been one of the few people to ever manage and get the best out of Henson so it wouldn't be that bad a move.

Never going to happen. For LW to get in the Jeff they need to be based in Oxford and that is too far away from London for him

No. Lyn Jones was asked this question on Scrum V when Henson's departure from the Blues was announced a couple of months ago. Jones said that LW just couldn't afford the wage bill even though he would welcome coaching Gavin again. Jones was a brilliant coach and did wonders with Gavin at the O's. I don't know if LW would be given additional finance for going up, but as it stands, I don't think Gavin will be going there unless he (or his agent) is willing to take a pay cut.

Flying could be an issue...
And Cari, how would it be a pay cut? I'm sure LW could pay him more than the £55 a week he's currently getting, signing on at Bridgend Job Centre!

Wouldnt be suprised to see this happen if LW win the case. Its a way of getting seats on bums with Hensons profile. Added to that is the Lyn Jones factor, he gets the best out of Henson. If Gav wants to continue his career then he has to take a pay cut anyway as he wont command big bucks after the blues exit. Good move for Welsh good move for Henson. Depends on the RFU and a court case sadly.
