If you could pick Froch's next 3 fights, who would you choose?
First topic message reminder :
With Froch's best performance to date, there are still a good number of tasty fights out there for him to take, if you also include a trip to LH
If you could pick Froch's next 3 fights, who would you pick and what order/venue?
Just off the top of my head I can think of at least 7 opponents he could face.
e.g. Bute, Kessler, Ward, Dawson, Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly (good domestic dustup)
Me, I would leave Bute alone as I don't think he would want any part of Froch now. So my 3 fights would be
Sub Dawson for Cleverly if he cant get past Kessler/Ward.
Which fights would you like to see him take on?

I dont get the Pascal issue. I'd like to see him rematch Kessler and fight someone he has never fought before.
A Dirrell fight would be interesting though.

Froch looked good in that fight so no it was not a sign he was on the slide. If he'd looked terrible against a worse opponent and got knocked down then it could have been a sign he was on the slide, but that simply didn't happen.
OK. Let's pick a fighter who is clearly on the slide. Roy Jones. His footwork has slowed, his reactions have slowed, he gets hit a lot more than he used to, he gets knocked down. I saw a little of that in Kessler last time out.

Froch should avoid Dirrell if he can, those styles do not mesh well for The Cobraazania wrote:I dont get the Pascal issue. I'd like to see him rematch Kessler and fight someone he has never fought before.

Id prefer Froch to concentrate on securing his status and legacy at SMW if Ward moves up to face Dawson.
I think andre Dirrell probably deserves a rematch with Froch just as much as Froch deserves one with Kessler on the basis of their fights. But outside of that Dirrell has been injured and inactive and not really done a whole lot in the last couple of years. Plus the fight would probably be boring. Kessler/Froch has all the ingredients for a classic.
If Ward does move up, then a Froch/Pascal fight would really be a second place fight to Ward/Dawson. I think SMW suits Froch and a win over Kessler there would cement him as being the number 1 SMW. Hearn seems to want a less tougher fight for Froch next with Froch also seems to want so Id say after a less challenging fight each for Kessler and Froch, have the rematch and then take a look around and see what the options are at LH with Ward/Dawson/Pascal possibilities.

I don't think anyone wants to see Dirrell in the ring with Froch again unless he decides to actually engage somewhat. Fighting on the back foot is fine, running away from another fighter is something completely different.

Would like to see Froch back before winter. He didn't ship punishment for the first time in many fights, so he can get back out there soon enough I reckon. kessler for me if they can get it done in September at City Ground. Or easier defence. Thing is with Dirrell. He wont come back to England and fair enough, and no way will Froch go to Detroit, and fair enough. Also, Froch does not want Dirrell. He knows that is not a great match up for him. Sky will be pushing for something more entertaining than that too. After last night there is a real buzz about Froch, biggest ever for him. Dirrell would kill that with his style

I agree. I think the only way the fight happens again is if Dirrell picks up a vacated title that Ward leaves behind and the fight would be a unification bout.

He looked against Taylor? He won when behind on points with 14 seconds left. Taylor was out-boxing him. Froch has issues with boxers who jab and move.
My point is that a KD is not an indication of someone on the slide. Especially a first round KD where the guy could still be cold. Kessler regrouped and did what he had to do.
Jones is not on the slide. He's gone, but I hear what you say. I haven't seen enough of Kessler other than the green fight to say one way or another if he is on the slide.

Why the big deal with Kessler?
The man comes forward straight lines only and gets tagged. Froch and Kessler would always be a war as they both come forward. Put Kessler up against a half decent boxing brain and he looses same with Froch.
I want to see Froch v Pavlik. Not Dirrell because Froch needs to be in exciting fights in the US where he is soon to be moving to remember.

Pavlik should retire.

He still has plenty to offer.

I dont think Froch always comes forward. He sits back a fair bit. Kessler might not be an all time great, but hes only lost to the two the greatest super middleweights of all time in my view. Not sure why anybody would not want to see Froch/Kessler 2. I believe Kessler has more to offer at this stage than Pavlik.

From a personal point of view, I'd like to see Ward out of America to see how he gets on in someone else's own back yard. It's all very well declaring yourself as great boxing in your home town all the time, bit different on the road, & they have the cheek to criticise other boxers for not travelling.
I'd lke to see Kessler next in the UK, after all Carl went to his country so why not?
Next, Ward in the UK, I don't think Carl would win but knowing his attitude you know he would want another crack @ Andre & if Ward is as great as he, his team & everyone else thinks he is travelling shouldn't be a problem.
Finale - domestic dust up with Groves/DeGale/Cleverly.
Retire!

I think he only wants two more. Rematch with Kessler then rematch with Ward.
He will win the first rematch for what I saw of Kessler he looked a bit shabby and worn against Green despite the KO. I think Kessler's last great hurrah was the Froch fight.
As for Ward he is too clever for Froch. Froch will lose again unless he lands the money punch, can't see Ward allowing that.

Re: If you could pick Froch's next 3 fights, who would you choose?
The fans have spoken and seem to want a Kessler re-match. I don't mind that after Mikkels level of in-activity/injuries I think that a re-match in Notts will go in Carls favour. Similar to the first fight but I just think if anyone has teetered a little it is Kessler and not Froch.
Then the winner of Stieglitz/Abraham to tie up another belt (Froch already has one up on AA) and I don't think Stieglitz would be to much of a problem for Froch. This should be made at a neutral venue maybe even stateside.
Final fight (If he wants to raise his profile towards the back end then this has to be in America) Ward I think although I see it going the same way again but you know what Carl is like, he will try and right that wrong. That might have to be made at LHW if Ward steps up.
