Looking at these teams they are not going to worry the english too much.
These players are mainly Vodacom and Currie Cup B division players, however you can expect these boys to look forward to taking the english on. If anything it should be entertaining and will provide Stuart Lancaster an opportunity test some combination.

BB - If these guys are losing 50-0 to the Currie Cup sides of WP, Bulls & Sharks (i.e. inc. no boks) how good do you think they will contend with the 2nd best team that ENG can turn out?
IMO, if ENG fail to put a 30 point margin at least on both teams I can't see their senior side competing with the boks.

I agree FA, England should beat them by 30 points, if they don't Lancaster will have to crack the whip.

Interesting that the actual team and not just the squads have been named so far in advance.
Do you know who picked and is managing each team? A regional coach for each of the regional selections?
We'll already know how competitive England are by the time these games take place, the first test is before the first midweek and the 2nd test before the 2nd midweek.

All 44 players will assemble with head coach Jimmy Stonehouse – and assistant coaches Eddie Myners and Oersond Gorgonzola – in Durban on Wednesday for a preliminary three-day training camp

FA, I am quite surprised Puke watson isn't there, I wonder why?

probably laughing himself all the way to the bank on his r200K a month salary all to play 3rd division SA rugby. Thats what is being reported right? Got to love transformation.
Does EP even make r200K a month from gate receipts????

for the 2 test matches in PE & Durban I wouldn't expect temps to go higher than at best low 20's C. Its not going to be a problem for the touring side.

I would think kick off would be 17h00 hours.
It will be early winter Kimberley should be around 4 to 10 degrees, little chance of rain.
Potchefstroom should be similar to Kimberley could be a touch colder, with little chance of rain.

It isn't EP paying him, SARU is.

If that happened in any other country those who were responsible would be in jail. Its a shocker but for another time I guess.
Yeah they weather won't be a factor in SA, perfect rugby weather.

Puke Watson probably asked for an appearance fee, hence he isn't in the squad.

Re: SA Barbarian teams announced for England midweek matches.
It would be nice if we could get some proper tour matches on tour. NZ aside the Lions have been greeted with a kind of scorched earth policy. i.e deny them any kind of quality opposition and they wont be able to test combinations, gel together or gauge where players are at.
It stinks.
This is different because it's England not the Lions i know. Also the dirt tracker game 1 is after T1. Still im going to use this thread to make a related, relevant and deeply felt point.

Tri, long time no see.
The problem is the Super XV is still going on, and the boys need a rest, the attrition rate has been high.
It is a tough little competition.

Re: SA Barbarian teams announced for England midweek matches.
What's the experience levels of those SA players BB?
If they are to take on something like (it's not exact):
1.Mullan (1 cap)
2.Gray (0 caps)
3.Harden (0 caps)
4.Palmer (37 caps)
5.Robson (0 caps)
6.Launchbury (0 caps)
7.Fearns (0 caps)
8.Waldrom (0 caps)
9. Care (32 caps)
10.Hodgson (36 caps)
11.Monye (15 caps inc Lions)
12.Allen (2 caps)
13.Joseph (0 caps)
14.Wade (0 caps)
15.Brown (3 caps)
will it be a game worth watching, e.g. talented young England teams take on wily SA journey men or just a wholesale slaughter?

Sam here is a link of SARU's website, you simply type the players name in and will give you a comprehensive breakdown of the player and his career.

Agree with that re the Lions. Always think it would be good if we could put lower profile test matches (such as vs Samoa) in the build up to the three match series somewhere as part of the tour. Would help developing unions' finances a lot, give a chance at a Lions cap to some players who wouldn't make the three main tests and give them some high quality opposition in the build up.
