Frank Lampard Injury
Oh dear, Frank has pulled up in training today with a thigh injury (not a metatarsal) and - just when you thought it couldn't get worse - Jordan Henderson has been put on standby. Frank Lampard will have a scan tomorrow, fingers crossed he'll be ok.

It's a sign! Stop picking old players.
But seriously, Frank and Gerrard are the 2 players England will miss at the moment

Old and overrated at this point, I'd rather England moved on from Frank and Stevie G. Not that I think Henderson's any good either. Stick Milner in a box to box midfielder role.

No sorry I don't buy into the stuff that Frank's overrated but I would agree that Stevie G is. If Lampard is out, it'll be a massive blow since Henderson probably isn't a tenth of the player that Lampard is.

Lampards more hype than substance these days. Can see him struggling to get games at Chelsea next year.

I wonder if Lampard isn't fit whether Hodgson is allowed and whether he would see if Michael Carrick can join up with the squad.

Carrick retired didn't he? I would see them try and get Scholesy back before Carrick.

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
If the news is confirmed that Lampard is out and Henderson is in then our euro 2012 campaign is going to be an embarrasment. Gerrard's got nothing in his legs anymore, henderson is dire, parker will just attempt to put out fires everywhere and wreck his achilles, walcott has no technical ability, downing is dreadful, milner has not played 90 mins in about 6 months, phil jones is not a right back or holding midfielder. Glen Johnson at the WC2010 showed he couldnt defend, how richards or adam johnson arent going is astonishing. Welbeck and Carroll up front is hardly proven at this stage and won't frighten too many back four's. Belgium will be tough and should give us an insight into how bad this england team is, I mean the Norway performance was terrible, actually painful to watch.

Surely all of that, bar the Henderson part, is still valid whether or not Lampard is injured.

Maybe, hes always a threat with his pace. Hes had parts of his Arsenal career where he looked on the verge of being world class, before he gets hurt.

Seriously listen to yourself. You either need to visit Specsavers or you really have been knocking back the beers already. World class......WTF! Shocking and embarrasing statement regarding a player who's career has completely stagnated and seen no improvement since he first burst onto the scene. Also as a striker he is appaling, yes he has pace, however his finishing ability particulary one-on-ones is dreadful as he has absolutely no composure whatsoever mainly down to him being void of any technical ability with a ball. How Adam Johnson will be sitting at home this summer still amazes me to this very minute

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
I think Theo is an impact sub. Throw him on in the 80th minute if you need a goal and he might set up something with his pace. Aside from that, he is really woeful at times.

For a start I said verge, which suggests that he isn't.
Adam Johnson is sitting at home because he plays like 1 game a month.

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
The way some people talk about Adam Johnson, it's as if he's our Messi, the same thing happened with Joe Cole at the World Cup. We build them up as amazing players when they're alright.
There is a reason Adam Johnson struggles to get into the Manchester City side, he's just not that good. Walcott has actually brought the goods more times than people realise, particularly for Arsenal and has a really good assists record as well as international experience.
I'd much rather we picked Walcott over Johnson.

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
Johnson is a class player and Mancini does rate him, however, it's his work ethic that has let him down. Mancini has said in the past that if Johnson put as much effort into defending as he does attacking then he would get game time. The player has let himself down more than anything.

I wouldn't have Johnson in in place of Walcott, but would definitely have him in place of Downing who has had a - well documented - awful season.

Righty ho, Lampard is out, a big blow to our chances (but I still have full confidence in England to win Euro 2012) and joining Ruddy, Rodwell, Wilshere, Barry and Bent on the injury list. Have I missed anyone out?

Parker is possibly injured.
Michael Dawson is injured, I rate him higher than Cahill.
I don't think Heskey is fully fit.

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
I dont believe its a blow at all. When have lampard and Gerrard ever played well together?
So many average players in this squad...the irony is if Roy gets them playing his strict back to basics tactics...they might actually do better than all the pathetic attempts thats happened previously.
AND he might actually use Carrol the way Newcastle used him...and believe me IF that happens then he WILL frighten defences....

Yes he might frighten defences but without service Andy Carroll is plain useless. Downing & Theo providing the crosses...........good luck! Basically England are going to play like Fulham in the Europa League. They will hope to get an early goal and then defend for their lives, the difference is you will be unlocked far more frequently against international star studded teams than the usual crap you find the in the europa league from eastern europe.
Seriously can't believe someone stated they believe Theo is one of the best finishers in the Premier League........you should be ashamed. Embarrasing.

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
I honestly think England have one of the poorest squads now going into the Euro's. That French game is looking more and more daunting.
Downing and Walcott on the wings, absolutely nor service there then. He's going to have to play 4-4-2 now as there is just no cm left. Play Welbeck and Carroll and have Welbeck drop deeper like he does for Utd, Young and my God Downing/Walcott, wow, how bad does that get. Think they should have taken Lennon if i'm honest and also Johnson. Johnson and Lennon on the wings with Young in behind the long striker, or Young left then choose between Johnson and Lennon for the right wing.

Re: Frank Lampard Injury
I think the starting line up will be
Hart
Johnson
Cahill
Terry
Cole
Walcott
Gerrard
Parker
Downing/Milner
Young
Carroll
I imagine that's the side we're going to have to stick with for the first two games, then swap Rooney for Downing/Milner, swap positions with Young.
Any injuries in midfield and we're in big trouble.

Theo should play as a striker. Great finisher and his pace will kill defences.

It would leave us very weak on the wings though if Walcott was to be pushed forward as a striker.
I think Carroll, Welbeck, Defoe, Rooney and even Young as the no.10 role is enough for our forwards.

Lampard is overated and I reckon Milner will more than make up for the loss of the Prima Donna Frankie

Since when did Lampard really perform for his country like he does for his club??
I'd prefer to put our chances on undiscovered talent instead.
GL England, gonna need it.

I think people are a bit unfair on lamps performing for england- i think he has , infact alot more than gerrard has compared to his club form.

I'm not judging Lampard on past performances for England. This season hes been very pedestrian. Age has taken its toll.
