Norwich reject Paul Lambert's resignation
Not letting him walk to Villa for free, though if hes offered his resignation it would seem that that deal is agreed.

I think he is as good as gone unfortunately.
I have no idea who we should bring in

Mackay has a growing reputation. Poyet's developing a good reputation for playing decent football at Brighton.

I would love malky to come in, he already knows the club. but then you look at how gunny was treated and wonder if the same would happen to him

Re: Norwich reject Paul Lambert's resignation
The three teams promoted to the Premiership last season have now all lost their managers. Martinez, on the other hand has renewed his commitment to Wigan.
Moral of the story? Don't get promoted

Re: Norwich reject Paul Lambert's resignation
People have said Rodgers has no loyalty leaving Swansea to go to Liverpool, but resigning so you can take another job meaning your existing club getting nothing is lowest thing you can do.

Re: Norwich reject Paul Lambert's resignation
My word, so that's:
WBA
Aston Villa
Swansea
Norwich
Now all needing managers by the looks of things. Obviously Lambert has been approached by Villa, they've obviously offered him more money in the transfer market and I think he see's a great opportunity to turn around a great club, especially with the young players coming through there.
Feel sorry for Nowich and Swansea, fantastic first season with two bright young managers, now all but gone in the second.
I'm a big fan of Alan Curbishly who has been out of the game for too long imo, he would be a good manager for Norwich, knows the prem and what it takes to keep sides up.
Swansea will go for a la liga manager or maybe Holloway, anyone who will continue to play the Swansea way. I just pray they can still sign Sigurdsson, although I wouldn't blame the guy if he decided to opt out of the move as Rodgers is leaving.

They have signed Sigurdsson permanently so that's good news for them.

They haven't. A fee has been agreed but the talk is now that Sigurdsson won't move because Rodgers has left. Big rumours that Sigurdsson will go to Liverpool instead.

If Sigurdsson goes to Liverpool then thats very poor behaviour from both Rodgers and Liverpool.

Well this site says so. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/swansea-city/transfers-alle/verein_2288.html
But this isn't a place to discuss Sigurdsson. I think Lambo will succeed at Villa and Rodgers will fail at Liverpool. The Anfield "faithful" have no patience these days.

I think its more that Martinez is being choosey, I rate him, he's a good manager

Eventually Liverpool plumped for Rodgers and Villa for Lambert. Martinez seemed to be the contingency for Liverpool when they were rebuffed by Rodgers initially.

Inidvidually it wouldn't surprise me for either to do it. Together I fully expect them too.

Yep. He has an incredible knack for remembering what his ex-players' release fees are in their contracts too

Early odds have Mackay and Hughton as the two frontrunners.
Still expect WBA to approach Hughton at some point though.

I wonder what Paul Lambert meant when he said the speculation he could leave Carrow Road was "absolute nonsense".

Re: Norwich reject Paul Lambert's resignation
heres the full club statement
The Club regrets to confirm that Paul Lambert has offered his resignation from his position as Norwich City Manager.
We have fought hard to keep Paul at Norwich City and have not accepted his resignation whilst discussions with another club are taking place.
However, whatever happens, we want to place on record our sincere gratitude for everything Paul has done for the Club over the last three fantastic seasons.
When Paul joined us in August 2009 we were in 66th position in the English football pyramid and the Club was on the brink of financial meltdown.

Today we are a Barclays Premier League football club, on a financially sound footing and with a stadium full to capacity.
Discussions with Paul throughout the last few days have been professional and amicable. Paul has already earned his place in Norwich City Football Club history and, no matter what happens, will always have a friendly welcome at Carrow Road.
Meanwhile, contrary to some media speculation, the Club does not need to sell any players and the finances are in place to substantially strengthen the excellent squad which helped us finish in 12th position in the Premier League last season.
Rest assured that everyone behind the scenes at Carrow Road remains absolutely focused on continuing to help the Club progress.

Why? A deal hasn't been signed so he's fair game.

The deal was agreed, and to take the manager and use that inside info to poach him seems a bit poor form.

In Lamberts defence, that was over a week ago.
For the rest of that week it was "absolute nonsense."

And....he hasn't had his medical or any of the other formalities. He was only joining Swansea because of Rodgers anyway, so if he doesn't want to join now thats his choice.
Not exactly on the scale of Jon Obi Mikel is it?

Re: Norwich reject Paul Lambert's resignation
Gutted about Lambert but I think deep down all Norwich fans knew it was coming since Villa sacked McLeish.
Would love to see either Mackay or Poyet at Norwich. We need a young manager to carry on the ethos Lambert has left. Curbishley, Bruce, McCarthy are not wanted here.

Also Sigurdsson's move to Swansea has not been completed and neither has a medical. I would doubt he will move there now Rodgers has left

Rather have Holt in the England squad than Stewart Downing. At least he has actually scored this season

Can't believe a frankly awful Liverpool side could be contributing 5 players to England's starting line-up....Carrol, Henderson, Downing, Johnson, Gerard
