Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
With Vitali set to retire this year, (let us assume he will), who gets the WBC shot when he is gone.
There is going to be th eopprotunity for someone to get a bonified alphabelt in a terribel Heavyweight era and forever be known as a champ.
If I was Wlad, I would let the others skirmish for it then go hunting for a unification bout.
The contenders
Helenious- proved versus Chisora that he is nothing special and should have suffered his first defeat. That said, he is in the mix
Povetkin- Looked very poor against Huck, still has shape issues, but this may be better than his fake WBA belt
Chisora- Lost to Fury, beat helenius, lost ot Vitali. WBC hate him so prob won't get the shot
Price - Too young as a pro? Perhaps.
Fury - Is he ready for the fights he would have to have if he were champ, maybe not
Haye - Prob go for it if beats Chisora, this would be his ticket back to a Wlad negotiating table. Wlad would want the belt. UGh!!! Who wants to see that again.
Thompson - Soon to be beaten by Wlad then will prob retire
Arreola - Maybe
Personally, Solis is the one I want to go for it. If the fat b**ger can stop eating for five mins and train, he is easily the best technician in the division not called Wlad and although lacking in power. Outpoints all the above, barring Wlad, probably.
Who do you lot think will win the WBC sweepstakes if Vitali retires?

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
After Haye beats him, he'll retire. I believe the WBC has issues with Haye also so in all lilelihood, Vit will give up the belt to make the Haye fight.
Your sweepstakes is still valid.
Helenanus will get the belt. Apparently he was carrying a serious hand injury entering the fight.

The most likely are whoever is 1 and 2 at the time....
If the WBC want to get on with the BBBc then it rules Haye and chisora out!!
Arreola probably and maybe Fury............

Helenius is God awful the HW Divisions bad but not THAT bad surely. Unless its completely gift wrapped to him and he is wrapped in some serious cotton wool I can't see him being the man.

Helenius, Fury, Arreola are favs. Fury may not want it yet though, Arreola would but can't see him going to Finlad to fight Helenius or vice versa.
Solis is better than all of them, but he needs to focus.

Agree Solis is the best but he doesn't want it enough, he'd rather be at Burger King than be the HW King.

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
Arreola will definately get a shot at the vacant if Vitali retires, providing he can maintain form. The WBC seem to like him. Hes always ranked highly up there. I also think they will want an American to hold it to get back into the market.
Something like Arreola v Mitchell/Banks/Solis would be my guess.

Solis is the talent in that mix, the real talent, but he will not stop eating. He has great skills though, just needs to fight every three months, stop eating and get that speed back.

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
True that Alex.
Better not be Arreola v Solis if they are just looking to make the first Mexican-American HW champ. Stick Arreola in with someoen else then and let Solis beat them once he has had some more warm ups and put the kebab down.
Solis beats them all. Not sure he has the snap to trouble Wlad but technically he is excellent

Solis could be good, he has the pedigree but his conditioning is so bad. Havent watched his last fight but by all accounts he wasnt overly impressive and turned up horribly obese. Lesser talented heavyweights will have a shot against him if he continues along those lines. Remains to be seen if he has shaken off his injury properly yet.

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
Without a doubt he has great talent, watch videos of him as an amateur, he was lightning quick and great condition, get that sense he's a lost cause though, he only has a small window where he can really do something, just think he'll be way too big to get through it...

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
solis isn't troubling anyone. he hasn't got the discipline to be the best.
anyone who turns up so woefully unconditioned doesnt have the dedication. he's got the hunger, just not for boxing.

Lacks dedication, but saying he "isn't troubling anyone" is a throwaway comment. Solis potentially beats all of the other contenders if in shape, and even out of shape he beats Arreola, Adamek, Chambers, Fury, Chisora maybe Haye, maybe Helenius too

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
Out of shape he couldn't catch Haye with a net and Chisora could easily outwork him with the better engine to ge honest.

Haye is a hack, when will people realize he's simply a great marketing man. Talent, yes, big wins, no. None IMO, apart from that beast Valuev, who isn't good, just big, just a big guff boxer. Haye isn't in my top ten Heavyweights.

Re: Vitali's WBC belt sweepstakes
My apologies for the brief posts, I'm at work y'see.
Yeah, Pulev looked really good against Dimitrenko. Completely outboxed him and shrugged off anything that landed. Looked in complete control for the whole fight. Dimitrenko got caught with a lot of big shots, but in the end looked like he'd had enough (was blowing for most of the fight) and seemed to just take the 10 count.
Given that the EBU has links with the WBC, it might give Pulev that extra chance of getting a vacant shot when Vitali bows out. Obviously, a high profile American based fighter may be a more lucrative option for the WBC bods though.

Haye and Chisora are non-starters.......the bbbc always go to the various wbc conventions and obviously are in regular contact...

in my opinion, he doesn't. the man is a walking accident. his knee buckled when he was in 'shape' and that was when he was still overweight by many a few stones.
anyone who lacks dedication will never be top of the heavyweights. even when the brothers retire.
