Today's Boxing in Japan
Morning all
There is a couple of decent fights this morning in Japan, anyone have any thoughts / predictions on these?
Hozumi Hasegawa v Jhonny Gonzalez
I'm going to have to go with Hasegawa by UD here, Gonzalez is a big puncher but I don't think he has the skill or luck to replicate what Montiel did to HH. Hasegawa is a quality boxer and should win 9-3 or so IMO
Toshiaka Nishioka v Mauricio Javier Munoz
I've never heard of Munoz, but looking at his record on boxrec he looks pretty average. Would expect to see Nishioka win a wide UD as he isn't a huge puncher, and I'm going to guess that Munoz is fairly durable!!
Takahiro Aoh v Humberto Mauro Gutierrez
On paper this is a pretty even fight, with the edge going slightly to Aoh I would. Based on this being in Japan, I am going to opt for Aoh by decision...
Thoughts?

That's a really good card actually, and I'd agree with your picks.
The Hasegawa fight should be explosive. Do you know what channel is showing it?

Not sure Scott, I'm in work so will try and follow a RBR on Eastside boxing when it starts.

Was hoping for an English commentary broadcast is all, probably a bit optimistic.

I won't update the title with any results, don't worry!
Are you following the card? There is a live, legal stream apparently

Can't watch it now, but I'll download later so hoping to avoid results until then. I'll stop checking this thread incase you want to talk about the fights, but doesn't seem to be all that much interest.

I have a big interest in the Aoh fight because it's Ricky Burns weight hoping for gutierrez win but don't see it. IMO the 3 asian champs will retain their titles. Sounds like a good card though.

Re: Today's Boxing in Japan
Hagesawa didn't think he had that much trouble slipping most of his shots. For me Hagesawa was controlling the distance and pace the best with his straight shots, and was starting to get success to the body. A lot of his 'jabs' were pawing and caught easily but allowed him to know where he was, and set up a few decent straight lefts. Gonzales probably landed the harder shots over the fight but not many of them. The KO was a one shot knockout, right hook to the jaw, neither caught the other with anything too solid beforehand.

It was a replica, Hasegawa boxing well, winning the rounds then bang and it's all over.

Re: Today's Boxing in Japan
Watched these fights on a good quality stream.
Superb card.
Hasegawa got nailed with the right hand of Gonzalez after a few rounds of good exchanges. (4th)
Hasegawa needs to go down a weight or avoid punchers all together - he's a cracking fighter but not the best chin.
Nishioka had a tough opponent but the Japanese fighter is relentless - quality Ko win in the 9th.
Aoh landed a superb body shot to end his fight in the 4th round.
