I Wanna Be Adored
Top fighters who WANT to be adored by the fans, the media, the critics and so on. We had ODLH, we had Ricky Hatton, but who is next? Active fighters only please.
In no particular order:
1. Carl Froch.
He says he doesn't but i think the Cobra knows that his stunning CV deserves universal props, and i think he is more than willing to prove he is worth the attention.
2. David Haye.
In a very needy way this man wants to be adored, he wants the boxing world talking about him.
3. Tim Bradley.
I wouldn't have mentioned him prior to the Pac fight but now i think he wants the adulation. And to be honest, i think he'll get that worldwide recognition. He's a come forward, well-spoken and brave fighter.
4. Victor Ortiz
Killer smile, good looks, the will to rough it up with anyone. Plus, he talks well, and i think he is aware of his fan base, and wants that base to grow.
5. Chavez Jr...
"Viva Mexico! Viva Juice!" I know this man is not on the up and up, i think the whole boxing community suspects it too. But he does go for it in the ring, and really hams it up in the post fight. Through gritted teeth i put this man on the list, much like a thief on trial, he is pending his adulation, and it is dependent on pee-pee, blood and full disclosure.
Thoughts team?

i think if bradley was ever going to be a star, it would have happened by now. he'll never be as popular as the likes of cotto.
alvarez is loved already, i think as long as he stays unbeaten he'll be insanely popular.

bradley and froch are the most deserving on the list, yet until recently (say bute and pac fights) were almost unknown outside boxing circles

Except fighting with aggression; he has not and will not do that.

Re: I Wanna Be Adored
Does Froch really have a stunning CV?
Good wins over Bute and Pascal but Taylor a blown up middleweight was moments away from beating him. Dirrell got screwed in Nottingham and he came up short against Kessler and Ward.
Oh and he out boxed a one dimensional blown up middleweight in Abraham and never impressed against a very old and very slow Glen Johnson.

I'm not saying he isn't any good but a stunning CV?
I don't think so mate. How else could you put it? Froch is a warrior and he always goes on the road and has beat the best?
That wouldn't be true he''s lost to the best.

Re: I Wanna Be Adored
I think it depends how you define 'stunning', really. As Davide is keeping it strictly to active fighters, then Froch's CV does stand up to all but a very, very small handful in terms of who he's been in with. If you ignore what his actual results have been, then 'stunning' would seem fair enough.
That said, I don't think it's realistic to evaluate someone's CV like that. Given that he's lost to the two best Super-Middleweights he's faced, I don't think he's eligible for such status, really. Excellent, impressive, strong, but not quite 'stunning.'

Re: I Wanna Be Adored
When he whips Kessler in the rematch and is on the verge of ten supremely world class fights, against varying skill sets.. home and away... with only one loss left to avenge, will you call him stunning then, 88chris?
For me?

DeGale would be up there. He was almost in tears when he was booed on his debut.

Re: I Wanna Be Adored
That was pretty harsh. He's a young guy who had just won a gold medal for his country he never deserved that. He deserved the reception he has had on a few occasions since but I thought that was out of order.

Re: I Wanna Be Adored
Harsh or not the British public isn't always as stupid as it seems. We had 'Chunky's' number early and no mistake.
Haye couldn't care less if he is adored or not so long as the money keeps rolling in.
Froch just wants a bit of recognition I think and I make him right.
