Coaching Advice For Roger Empty Coaching Advice For Roger

Of course Roger should be the last person to need coaching advice from anyone let alone me. However after his recent loss to Novak in the RG semi maybe a few reminders of what he does the best might be helpful.

Roger your great at hitting with slice, topspin, sidespin and also hitting flat. You've got a great first and second serve and it's also reliable and you know were to place it to make it really effective. You know how to volley, smash, drop shot and lob. You can return even the trickiest serve. You can play defensive or aggressive and you know when to do either. You can keep your cool when things get tricky and you don't get over excited when things go well. Have I missed anything?

Of course you can also consistently hit hard, deep and flat to the back of the court forcing your opponent to run from side to side. The problem is so can Novak. It might be tempting and fun to try and beat him at his own game. But Roger, I don't know how to break it to you but against Novak this is not a game you will win. Novak is just too good at it... in fact he is better than you! Remember how it ends when you try and beat Rafa with your backhand? So just don't do it!

Just remember all the good things you can do... and do them all. Also this will make the crowd ooh and ahh. This is always nice but against Novak it might also be an effective strategy.

Sorry Novak for not helping you this time but you shouldn't mind me giving a little advice to an old man with a bad back...

I've felt the same way before. He can be so damn stubborn.

God what creampuff piece, it is funny I get derided for talking up Novak. Do you guys read some of the stroke jobs you post on Roger? I have read them for a decade now and if you get annoyed with my affection for Djoko's game well at this point don't have much patience for fed gushing. Whenever I do it I get called on it.

Sorry Hawkeye, the whole old man with bad back thing is pretty laughable. Did you watch the match?

No offense not my favorite post of yours.

Nobody gets nnoyed at anyone's affection for anyone, why do you think that?

Anyway, hawkeye is a big Rafa fan.

Its funny how the Federer fan's (including myself) are adamant Fed did not play that well today but enough to get the job done.

The Djokovic fans such as you Hawkeye seem to have different opinion.

Djokovic is playing the best tennis out of all the men here. He is No 1, defending champion and holds 3 of the 4 majors. That is why he is the favourite to win this. Is there anyone out there who thinks otherwise? Probably not!

I didn't mean my coaching advice for Roger as a way of not respecting Novak. The opposite! He can be scary good. That's why I thought Federer may need a little help. Don't count me as getting annoyed with your "affection for Djoko's" game because I think it's understandable. He is a great player... But personally I prefer Federer. I can't help it... When Djokovic isn't playing one of my favourites I often cheer for him.

What are you talking about? I never said anything about the way Federer played today. I'm talking about how he will play on Friday. Also please don't tell me who I am a "fan" of...
