Just a proof what kinda player he is in Grass, Djoko is a very good player but not that great in grass, this is the era that doesn't have any grass court specialist and he capitalized it.
But yippee Fed wins semi's but remember its not finals and he still have a match to go before thinking of no.1 and the title.
Murray is no mug.

Well I did say to Socal on grass Fed is a different beast, he didn't turn up on FO knowing he had no chance against young Djoko at 31 years of age but on grass he always backs himself and I know he would bring his A-game and when he brings it very rare opponents come with answer, may be barring Rafa nobody can beat his A-game even at this age let alone at his prime.

Don't be silly, he's not number 1.
He'll only get it if he wins the final.

Exactly... people need to realise just how good Fed was in his prime... he was unbeatable on grass 2004-7. Unbeatable. And that's new surface and conditions.

Seifer so far you have predicted everything good in Wimbledon, but I guess its gonna be Murray for the finals, Murray is good at grass, its just his records doesn't back it up.

Thanks to that win even if Fed loses the final he has an excellent chance of eventually taking the No.1 spot because Djokovic has exactly 11, 000 points and his lead will be just 725 points at the top so Djokovic really will be unlikely to hold onto it easily unless he holds onto good finishings @ Cinci & Canada.

I have had 75% record coming into the semi... but this time it is 50% or 100%.

I don't think so organizers would like to see Roger-Rafa semi either, so most likely the draw from here on would be rigged such a way that Fed-Murray for semi's and Novak - Rafa for semi's, I hope it makes Socal happy

I said Federer would win so am halfway right so far. Also predicted Murray would make the final too. A Federer Murray final with the Scot going home with another runner-up trophy unfortunately.

Yes IC. But I feel that Djoko was potentially a far harder opponent for Roger than Murray. If Roger continued to hold his service percentage and quicken and control the pace of the game the way he did today, consistently, I think he can take care of Murray. If not, the guy's just vanquished the defending champ, #1 and the favorite. Quite an achievement already.

Murray looking very, very good.
However, the interesting thing for the ranking is that at Canada & Cincinatti Federer is defending 270 points while Novak has 1600 to let go. Even if Fed lost and Djokovic pulls perhaps another 300 on him in the Olympics Roger would still be in the box seat.

Federer totally in the box seat for the race to be #1 after the US Open, but not so sure about the year end. Fed has max points to defend in Paris and London at year end. Could be a close one. Likely to be still open race going into Paris.

Re: Roger Federer Poised to Regain #1
2 weeks looks very much odds on at the moment, although, of course, the same was true in 2010 before Nadal mopped up the entire clay court season and Wimbledon and miraculously nicked it from him, with Federer falling too early in some tournaments.
Another very good chance here.
A win on Sunday and that certainly and finally confirms that Federer is certainly greater than Pete Sampras, incase anyone still is in doubt...

Didn't happen SA. There's a reason the H2H was 5-1. It's now 6-1.

Re: Roger Federer Poised to Regain #1
I honestly believe that if Federer wins this and regains the #1 ranking it will rank as his biggest triumph.
He looked out of it a year or so back, the new era was here, Federer was in the past and some even undermined his achievements. If he regains the ranking then all the sniping must be done, surely.
A win now will bookend 2003 Wimbledon to 2012 Wimbledon, with another 15 (!) in between, 6 Masters Cups and many years of being the top ranked player. What a thing that would be.

Re: Roger Federer Poised to Regain #1
Agree there with you BB.
I was reading the BBC round up article on who media pundits and newspaper journalists were picking for the Fed vs Djoko semi and it didn't surprise me to see that most had written off Fed. Most of them went on saying that Djokovic had a mental hold of Fed which to be honest sounded like complete hogwash. To shut these guys up, I'm so glad Fed got the win, if anything it seemed like Djokovic had mental demons, not Federer.
Indeed, there's now a possibility of a dream run for Fed starting with winning Wimbledon, then the Olympics and the USO. It was but a dream...but at least he's still in it to achieve it. Winning all 3 was always going to be unlikely but even achieving one of them is incredible. Of course he will get the No.1 ranking by achieving the first but it's great Fed has capitalised on his best opportunity @ a slam in a long time. Winning Wimbledon will also give him a strong opportunity to challenge for the YE No.1. Winning Cinci or Canada would definitely help him get there but first, the Wimbledon final!
