Rackerly is the only person who is worse than Sutherland
I would have loved to know what te commentators say as they are breaking up with laughter throughout the fight
The thing I think is funniest about rackerly is the attempted head movement where he looks like he could fall over

How Dmitriy Salita has gone 33-1-1 is one of life's great mysteries. His "fight" with Khan was cringeworthy

I remember reading that Sutherland claimed to be an 'unbeaten street fighter' who thought that if he was going to fight then he might as well get paid for it. Sutherland clearly forgot that to receive half-decent money for anything you have to be, at the very least, competent at it.
Sean O'Grady's comment that Sutherland 'knows nothing about boxing' is a sure-fire candidate for understatement of the century but even more hilarious is the Spanish version whose commentary team are in hysterics throughout. I defy anybody to keep a straight face whilst watching this.

Frank Bruno's 'fight' with Chuck Gardner in Paris in 1987 remains the most disgraceful mismatch I've ever seen. At least Brian Sutherland offered comedic value but the sight of Gardner being rendered almost unconscious by a Bruno jab wasn't funny, just pitiful. What made it an even bigger disgrace was that Bruno was re-building towards another title shot after losing to Witherspoon and this was the dross that he was being fed.
I remember Henry Cooper laughing in the TV studio after learning that Gardner claimed to be 35 when, in actual fact, the bloke didn't look a day over 55.

Thing is, Gardner was still in better shape than John McDermott

Just watched Bruno / Gardner (it is on the CIV archive), that was a mighty impressive jab from Frank, nearly killed the bloke.

he looks ancient, he was knackered and hes been rendered unconcious by an innocent looking punch

Re: Worst Pro in History...EVER??
Was it Tommy Morrison who knocked a guy out with the first jab of the fight? A literal one-punch KO if you will.

Re: Worst Pro in History...EVER??
I remeber Naz putting down said lawal off the first punch (thrown very casually!) off the wrong foot and balance all over the place. The bloody camera had just started to zoom in from a distance so we missed the live hit.

Unbelievable, just watched it. What's ridiculous is just how cold he was from it. I might not have been as KO'd as that and I am 5:9 and 155 pounds (pure British beef, of course).

According to Buncey, there were fighters on a Cotto undercard only a couple of years ago who were on $400 or so.

Re: Worst Pro in History...EVER??
Fighters were called tomato cans because they were guys who bled easily ("like a punctured tomato can"). Crowds back in the olden days (that would be pre 1995 for some of you) did love to see the claret spurting everywhere so promotors used to sign these guys knowing the crowds' bloodlust would be sated.
Nowadays, tomato can seems to refer to guys who get knocked over easily.
Not that I want to see a guy bleeding like a stuck pig but I'd rather see a gutsy performers giving his all for twelve rounds than someone falling over when he's hit with something harder than a feather duster

seanmichaels wrote:Did Khan duck Peter Buckley?
Arguably YES. When Khan was getting decked by the likes of Willie Limond and Michael Gomez, Buckley came out and said that Khan needed grounding against seasoned pro's to learn the tricks of the trade. Buckley implied that going a few rounds with him would have taught Khan a lot about boxing smarts. Warren never took Buckley up on the offer. Buckley fought Naz twice and Naz couldn't put him on the deck. Even Naz complained when their second fight was stopped by the referee.
Not enough prospects get put in with the tough operators these days. Some of our HW lads should get in with the likes of Matt Skelton who is a rough and tough as they come. It's all well and good knocking over shop dummies but they need to fight someone who knows how to survive and knock them off their stride.
