3 worse 'reveals' in wrestling history....
Following the dreadful reveal that Hornswoggle was the mystery GM it led me to think of the most anti-climactic reveals in wrestling history....
Here's mine
1. Ric Flair is 'The Black Scorpion'
2. 'I did it for the Rock' Rikishi runs over Stone Cold
3. Vince McMahon... The greater power????

Its obvious they thought we can put to bed the 'who was the anonymous gm?' questions and sort of poked fun at them, by revealing it was hornswoggle. Although they obviously revealed him to be the one for the night, rather than him being the anonymous GM for the whole time.
I agree with Rikishi, he was never set up for the role of a heel, he'd been dancing around for the previous year and now he runs someone over. Not a disaster but it could have been done allot better.
Staying on Hornswoggle, how about him being the illegitimate son?. The weeks building up to it, then they reveal it to be the little b*****d. Very poor indeed.

Hornswoggle as Vince's son was 4th on my list, I believe this was a late replacement for Mr Kennedy wasn't it?

Horny as the mystery GM was actually a great move to laugh at themselves as I don't believe they actually knew who it was going to be anyways
Re: 3 worse 'reveals' in wrestling history....
Hornswoggle revealed as the illegitimate son.
Kevin Nash texted himself.
Just two other suggestions.

Re: 3 worse 'reveals' in wrestling history....
It's hard to use the Illegitimate Son angle because Kennedy got Welnessed and theyy decided just to flip the whole story on it's head, it was a rotten reveal but it was through no fault of the WWE's so it's hard to moan about that one
Could you imagine if the Undertaker appeared from the Thanksgiving Egg instead of the Gobbildygooker like was originally planned
1 - McMahon being the higher Power absolutely sucked, I remember the rumours that it was going to be Sting but I'm sure it was Jake Roberts who was ear-marked but just couldn't get clean or clean enough
2 - Jericho turning up this year was a crap reveal for me, knowing what he was back to do (WM feud for Punk) turned me off wrestling completely
3 - Matt Hardy being Jeff's attacker just because Vince wanted to swerve the dirts, Christian would have been logical sound booking and could easily have got 6 months to a year out of Christian, Edge, Jeff and Matt, instead Edge/Jeff got dropped for 5 months, Christian was sent to ECW and Matt was made to look stronger than his brother throughout the feud yet was constantly positioned under him in the booking, really senseless

Has to be Road Warrior Animal at WCW Sin as the mystery opponent and that dreadful Double Axehandle. That was awful!

those promos last year, something like 2, 11, 11 or whatever the date was. Got everybody excited that STING was coming to WWE, only for it to be the return of the 'Taker

Most people knew it was the Undertaker.

It just didn't make sense... Why would Vince have his own daughter kidnapped & then put through some daft wedding??? Although it was great how Stephanie turned it round on Vince & married HHH

You are right, it was 90 and it was Guerrero - according to Wikipedia anyway. You gotta love Lombardi. Rumour has it he was the guy playing Doink a few weeks ago on Raw! Legend.

Yeah until you consider he's only got a job because of his very 'close' association with Pat Paterson

Taker was meant to hatch from the egg at Survivor Series not the Gooker

Why didn't he?

Re: 3 worse 'reveals' in wrestling history....
I'm not quite sure if he was meant to hatch as The Undertaker or just Mark Callaway as a different character, they used him on a Superstars taping and a couple of house shows before Survivor Series though, his gimmick caught the imagination of the live crowds and Vince was so high on him he wanted him in a starring role at Survivor Series
The landscape of the WWF/E though would be totally different if they stuck to that original plan

How about the 'surprise' entrant to the 2011 SD chamber being Big Show? That was dreadful...

Re: 3 worse 'reveals' in wrestling history....
1) vince being the greater power - just was poor and didnt make sense
2) hornswoggle being the annymous gm/ vinces son
3) Rikishi revealed to have run Austin over
but some good mentions eg Gobbledy Gooker
the story about undertaker- mark calloway debuting from the egg, was he was supposed to be the Egg man or something. im sure the talk about it during the worst characters legends roundtable show.
