Ping Launch Adjustable Driver in August
The new driver will have four “standard” lofts: 8.5, 9.5,10.5 and 12 degrees and is expected to be available to consumers in mid-August. Pricing not yet announce.
The Anser driver is a 460cc titanium head with a black-matte finish that is adjustable for loft plus or minus 1/2 degree.
Adjusting the loft will also change the face angle from open to closed. More loft and the more it is closed and conversely less loft will make the face angle open up.
I've only ever heard good things about Ping Drivers, and I use the G20 Driver & 3 wood which I love, may give this a try just to see what its like though I've never really seen point in adjustable clubs.
There's some images available on google for some reason this site isn't letting pop on an image. I believe from twitter Chris Di Marco is using one this week as are some other Ping staff players.

I tend to agree with you Fader - I use a Cobra ZL 9.5 degree loft and haven't seen the need to move it away from a neutral position. My regular playing partners tend not to watch my drives now - where's it gone? Down the bloody middle again! is the phrase they use!
Grip it 'n' rip it!

I have the G10 with 9 degrees of loft, my playing partners call me a boring old fart, as I am always straight down the middle, see no reason to change my driver for sometime.

I'd love a job with the ping design studio. All you do is photocopy the plans of the previous model.

"as I am always straight down the middle"
did i hear somewhere that no one braggs about there accuracy
just kidding shanker/old par
Your right though if there is nothing to fix - why bother. But having an adjustable driver is no different from trying loads out first to see what works for yourself. Its just that we need to try loads of different settings per club an all!!

Adjustable drivers come into their own when playing links golf. Dial it down to keep it a little lower.
Also helps in windy conditions, a lower more penetrating drive comes in handy.
And back to parkland, dial it back up for a nice high drive right down the middle, hopefully.

Re: Ping Launch Adjustable Driver in August
Setup, that's the first reasonable explanation that I've heard from someone about these adjustable drivers.
I have been of the thought that you get you driver set up for you and away you go. Once you have it set I have never seen anyone change them.
I suppose what Mystir says about getting it dialled in over a period of time rather than what you do in a two hour session is an idea. I think that there is more variation in my swing than anything else.
The best explanation I heard was from someone at Callaway saying that it was production genius as you only need to make a few basic models rather than loads. And then the fact that you can charge more too just sealed the deal.
In fact, thinking about it, this must be a bit of a kick in the face for Ping as they have always been the most proactive manufacturer about getting clubs set up for you and now they have had to go down the route of an adjustable one!

Maybe that is the thinking setup - mind you, it is only half a degree either way that it can change and it does not change the shaft characteristics that account for a great deal more of the ball trajectory.
As I have said on another thread, I use a different driver for links work - steeper face, stiffer shaft and higher kickpoint - gives me a lower, more boring flight and lots of run (when the fairways are hard and dry).
But it is very easy to get hung up with the intricacies and the purported science of drivers nowadays - they have a cure for all evils, which invariably a small correction in stance and grip could cure, and every year promise to add yet another 15 yards on to your drive. There are a number of people on this and other boards who feel that course management takes over and the big dog only comes out of the bag 2-3 times a round, with the 3 wood taking precedence. Personally, because I do hit my driver straight and well (have you never played with someone like me Mystri?), I would prefer to choke down the shaft if a full drive is going to be too long, otherwise, drop straight down to a long iron.

Changing the loft, open/closed degree or the lie angle will probably throw all the gains you get from being custom fitted right out the window.
If you are fitted for a 9 deg with a specific club, it doesn't mean that changing it to 10.5 deg is going to work for you.

Re: Ping Launch Adjustable Driver in August
I agree shanky- for me I also want an optimum trajectory for my driver, and i dont change it for conditions- i use different clubs!
I use an 'old' titliest 13 degree pt (strong 3 wood) with a steel shaft for links courses any way- it goes low and runs for miles.
I have played with millions that hit it straight Shanky.. Just came across your comment straight after reading about no one bragging about accuracy on the bragging thread lol

I have a R11 (TMAG). 10.5 degree, can amend to 11.5 & down to 9.5.............right down the middle.......

Re: Ping Launch Adjustable Driver in August
The TM r9 and r11 really have captured a big chunk of the market. I have an r7 which I do (occasionally) change the weight settings. If I'm starting to get a bit quick and hooky, then I move the big weight to one of the centre holes. It soon straightens me out.
The guys with r9s and r11s can change the face and even the shaft. One of my pals has a summer shaft (stiff) and a winter shaft (regular) which seems to help him. Certainly e hits it further than he used to.
