Garcia v Rios?
Both young, both undefeated, both bangers, both can talk a fight up, with Rios most likely stepping up to 140, and the element of a Mexico/ Puerto Rico rivalry, is this a fight you'd like to see? potential fight of the year candidate if it came off.

Be a great fight Dave, Rios needs to be ready though, he has real gas and weight issues, but it could be a great fight. Another explosive fight, ooooh, there's been so many lately.

Re: Garcia v Rios?
Would be a really good matchup, tbh there are many fighters at the weight who would make great fights
Rios will want a fight or 2 to get back into the mix after the Abril incident but is what he is
Garcia doesn't do anything particularly well, decent counterpuncher, a little slow but has heavy hands. Rios is very powerful, has a granite chin, can bang (especially to the body) but is there to hit and outbox
Garcia wont be able to wipe away rios like he did khan but should find it easie rot he to to a rhythm. Not sure how tough Garcia is though as khan, holt (who actually wobbled him a couple times) ad morales inst a great yardstick to judge how he would do in a "war"
Garcia will most likely fight olusegun next and rios I think is being line dip or Alvarado

I'd love to see him in with Lucas Matthysse... that would be another all out action fight!
The problem with Rios is that he's promoted by Arum and I'm not sure what grounds GBP and Top Rank are on at the moment.

IMO Rios' wieght issues would be solved by a move up to 140

Garcia can't talk smack. His dad though. That's another matter.

Re: Garcia v Rios?
I really think Garcia is in for a short title reign. With Rios, Matthysse and Marquez all circling ominously at the weight, I think it's only so long before he's in over his head. It sounds weird given the decisive nature of his win, but I wasn't that impressed by his performance against Khan, he can counter-punch but still seems too defensively leaky and slow of foot.

Re: Garcia v Rios?
I have the same feeling about Garcia also. Wrong tactics adopted by Khan cost him big time. Instead of boxing him, Khan decided to engage to an extent. He kept on leaving himslf open to counters.
I reckon Khan would win a rematch, but it wont happen for a while. Plus I wonder how much fight he left in the gym. A 4 month training camp is pretty long.

If Garcia is fighting olusegun next he can kiss his world title goodbye.

With you there, Ghosty. Always rated Olusegun and baffled as to why his progress has been so slow.
Re: Garcia v Rios?
Not too sure, can't remember who his promoter is but he appears to have to get anyone to fight him, been a mandatory for some time across the different organisations. The 140lb men are massively over rated, the only top class fighter left is Marquez and he's bound too get old soon.
