My national manager:
Rate your national coach as it stands NOW. (SH Rugby Championship)
Do what it says on the tin.
Twelve months ago many posters had different views regarding their national manager/coach than are currently popular.
Rate your current your opinion.
And next year the results a repeat poll outcome can be compared.
Poll closes before SH Rugby Championship

New Zealand: I am primarily a New Zealand Fan - I'm entirely satisfied with Deans

New Zealand: I am primarily a New Zealand Fan - Deans must go now
New Zealand: Deans has already resigned/officially will be replaced
I'll just go in and change those references to Deans as NZ coach to Hansen.
We should be so lucky

I am moderately satisfied with Meyer, but I am a little bit concerned too.
He proved that he was good enough, but something's he did just makes me scared that he see things through a blue spectacles.
But lets wait and see.

I'm moderately satisfied with Hansen. He got the 3-0 result, with the traditional one close match, and an unexpectedly big thrashing. And he's brought through some new players who look promising. But he hasn't really been tested yet.

I don't know yet, after three tests Meyer showed some positives and some concerns.
There were glimpses of getting the backline more involved and it seems the wingers have more freedom to attack from deep.
I know Goosen was injured so Meyer didn't have that option, however he never used Lambie or Jantjies.
Some of his selections such as Potgieter and Werener Kruger worries me.
He might impress me still but at the moment his Blue tinge worries me.

There's a big drop between entirely satisfied (impossible for an AB fan in any event so shouldn't be an option) and moderately satisfied.
I liked how he made bold selections and introduced young players and players in form. There are still some puzzling selections like Williams and Weepu but hopefully they were last chance saloon selections and we see no more of them. Surely we can find a replacement to lead the haka.
When teams get on top of us, we tend to retreat into our shell. So I'd like to see a more effective Plan B than playing the percentages. But 3-0 against Ireland was a tough ask and the team came through. Now an even tougher assignment awaits in terms of filling up the trophy cabinet to keep the Bledisloe, Dave Gallagher, Hilary, William Webb etc company.

I'm not upset with Shag as coach, but am not elated either so i voted for moderately satisfied. he's earned his shot with the ABs and I have faith in his decisions, and the series against the Irish shows he is capable. Retaining the Bledisloe and/or winning the Rugby Championship will increase my satisfaction.

South Africa: I am primarily a South African Fan - I'm concerned about Meyer.
The Bulls tinted specs will have to come off if South Africa are to progress, and that is personnel and gameplan.

I was 'entirely satisfied' with GH Kia...but that might be my blue tints as well... (and we dont have much to be blue tinted about these days). But at least we've finally upped our standards again as Jaffa's...only another knight will do...

...on that...Imagine if Blackadder got knighted when he finally wins a sxv or five... all we'd need is a baldrick to run the proceedings... "if I could pin a tail on it I could call it a..."

Don't get me wrong. Ted is a legend Taylorman. What I mean to say is that we are always too critical of the AB's performance to be truly entirely happy. I remember in the World Cup and a few grumblings about team selection. Of course looking back on his record and his staggering percentage of wins, it's difficult to not look at it with rose tinted glasses, especially after getting us Bill after so many years.
When you look at what Shag delivered, 2 very good performances and a hard fought win against Ireland, you have to be happy with keeping that record against Ireland intact. But the real test will come in the 4N. Win both our games against Australia first up and apply the pressure to SA and we'll be happy. Lose any of the games and the fairytale start collapses.

You need to realise at some point Meyer will make the right call. There is no justifiable reason for him to continue with Morne Steyn.
We do that, NZ can expect tougher times vs the Springboks. That is not to say Hansen is a bad coach, it just means the Boks will evolve.

Yeah I knew what you meant kia...just playing the game. I think ted has spoilt nz fans over the past 8 years in that he rarely got things wrong and really did have nz, the jersey, the values and standards of what All Black rugby means at the forefront of his mind over the whole period.
Remembering the horrible mitchell days, the Randall claytons leadership, the loses to Eales sides, the hart, mains, grizz power struggle and splits.
Henrys abilities to unite the country as one behind the team was a masterstroke and few have that. 2007 he copped it a bit with the deans think but won most over in his own unique way. With hansen I'm waiting for the personal bickering to return when he loses and has to face his own demons and the nz public.
As a NZ coach its a bit different. Fact is we really do have the best players in world rugby. Our number one ranking is testament to that. So a NZ coach is more about geting things right and the rest follows. That's easier said than done obviously and if hansen takes the defensive ego driven personal route with losses we'll fast go back down that slippery slope again- decisions continuing to be made based on ego rather than an honest analysis of the facts. That's where GH stood out. He put NZ rugby ahead of everything else.

Re: Rate your national coach as it stands NOW. (SH Rugby Championship)
Definitely they'll be a more difficult opponent with a more creative and incisive flyhalf. Will Meyer be one of those coaches though who digs his head a little further into the ground over the selection of a player. Sometimes the more criticism a player receives, the more the coach stands up for the player in question. M Steyn was favoured by previous coaches. Will the love continue? Or will he finally see what everyone apart from ardent Bull fans see? That M Steyn is a goalkicking machine but much like a donkey can kick, that's about all he does and he's just as stubborn as a donkey.

That's exactly what I think will happen as well biltong. The margins for improvement lie with SA far more than any other side, purely because of what they've been holding back. There's so much potential its scary and the right people, ideas and selections will see a new bok era on the horizon capable of blowing the game wide open.

I guess that there is currently debate whether to of the four will be in place at the end of the AIs, such is the lack of support for their current standing.
