Smackdown 04/15/11 Result Spoilers.

- Thanks to Erin for the following live WWE SmackDown spoilers for this Friday's show, being taped tonight in Albany, New York:

* Alberto Del Rio opens the show up and talks about Edge. He says it's his destiny to win the World Title. Del Rio wants Edge to come out and present him with the belt. Teddy Long interrupts and announces a 20-man battle royal tonight to determine Del Rio's opponent for the Ladder Match at Extreme Rules.

* Ezekiel Jackson beat Kofi Kingston. After the match, Jackson cut a promo about being the new #1 contender.

* Therapy segment with LayCool and them arguing.

* Cody Rhodes cuts a promo on Rey Mysterio. Rey comes out and hits 619.

* Rey Mysterio beat Drew McIntyre.

* Edge is shown backstage getting applauded by the locker room.

* Edge comes out to say his SmackDown goodbye. Big chants from the fans. Edge talks about his career and how he won his first world title in Albany. He introduces his mom who is sitting at ringside. Great speech by Edge.

* Alberto Del Rio interrupts Edge backstage and extends his hand. Edge just stares at him and walks away.

* Kelly Kelly beat Layla. More tension from LayCool. McCool came in and shoved Layla after the match.

* The 20-man battle royal consists of Big Show, Kane, The Corre, Heath Slater, Jack Swagger, Brodus Clay, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Yoshi Tatsu, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, Tyler Reks, Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, Trent Baretta and JTG.

Christian wins and becomes the #1 contender after it comes down to him, Jack Swagger, Justin Gabriel and Rey Mysterio. Michael Cole got involved and hit with 619 from Mysterio. Edge came down after the match and posed with Christian.

Christian is #1 contender. Good.

But who is going to be the Champion? No-one is at the moment right?

The ladder match between Christian and Alberto Del Rio at Extreme Rules will be for the vacant title Miky.

Makes sense to put Christian in that match, my only hope is that he gives a good enough account of himself that Vince will see that he IS worthy of being World champion.

I agree with you on the Christian thing, hopefully Vince realises. I don't understand why he isn't champ hes nearly the same build as Edge (I love Edge so i'm not complaining) so he can do the same job, they are very similar to each other in build. He is very over. It's money Vince!

Christian is majorly over with the crowd, he would be a massive hit as champ and I really think he deserves at least one run with the title. If it bombs then fair enough, Vince was right but he'll never know until he tries.

Be interesting to see Del Rio in a ladder match, Christian has massive experience so hopefully that will help him through the match.

Doubt there'll be any pinfalls in the ladder match Miky, the belt will be hanging above the ring. A Killswitch off the ladder would be awesome though mate!

I think Christian could easily slot into Edge's position on Smackdown as the perennial World champ. It's been discussed may times before but I honestly think that Christian can do pretty much anything that Edge could do, in the ring and on the mic.

For most people it seems a no-brainer; you've got a guy who's over, can wrestle, can talk and can play face or heel equally effectively. Why wouldn't you make him World champion?

Maybe Christian doesn't kiss enough ass for Vince's liking. Or maybe he should sleep with Edge's wife. That's a sure-fire ticket to main event stardom!

Regarding Christian - I don't know mate but Vince needs to realise that he is one of the best faces they have on Smackdown! at least. He will be gold as champion and if he isn't then...well...prove me wrong because i don't know either seeing as he has never got the chance!

Problem is Y2 - If Christian wins where does this leave ADR?

Two things about Christian - he never appears as big or strong as Edge which is why I think Vince has never pushed the button (that and that he was TNA world champ!).

Also, he needs to change his finisher - takes too long to perform and set up - every great champ could hit their finisher at any time (F5, FU, Stunner, Pedigree, Rock Bottom, Angle Slam etc)

The Killswitch takes an age to do.

Having said all that, if Miz can hold the title so can Christian

I was thinking, whilst reading that Hobo, that there are some people who have been champ who are less capable than Christian no matter what his flaws may be.

I dont want to be misconstrued here - Edge and Christian were my favourite wrestlers as a tag team ever.

And I mean not just my favourite tag team but favourite wrestlers. Dont get me wrong, I still love TUW, Macho and Foley (and ECW Zombie) but the pure entertainment in their promos combined with fantastic matches put them top of my own personal pile.

And I really hope that he wins the title and carries it with the swagger he had when he had his peeps, and that is how he rolls etc.

With a few tweeks he can do it - changing his finisher is a must though. Even adopting the spear as a tribute would be a start (although I wouldnt like the constant shadow of edge).

The only problem I have is that if Christian gets the strap, then ADR is effectively buried.

I would book it so that Christian feuds with ADR until Summerslam and wins it there.

I don't necessarily want Christian to get the belt at Extreme Rules, I think it would be detrimental to Alberto Del Rio, but I definitely want him to be involved in a feud over the title in the following months, and eventually getting a run with the big gold belt to see if he can 'cut it', which of course he can.

If Christian needs a new finisher then they should give him the Overdrive / Playmaker. That's not an awkward looking, cack handed, too long to set up finisher at all. Hell it worked for MVP, and look at him now!

Vince has been slow in pushing the button on Christian because it's a massive GIRUY to the IWC. He knows that we would all mark for a Christian title reign....however we are not his target audience.

Christian deserves a title shot...I'm just slightly disappointed that it's taken the reitrement of his mate for it to be recognised.

Miky the very first word I said was Vince. Why on earth would you have to then "imagine" that I was talking about Vince. Would I be referring to the IWC as "He". No.

So twhile it wasn't a difficult question to answer...it was one that I had already answered...hence the fact that I didn't answer a second time.

After SD ended.....

As SmackDown! ended, the entire WWE locker-room came out to the top of the stage as Edge stood in the ring. First, The Big Show came down the ramp and hugged Edge. He was then followed by Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio and Christian who was already in the ring. They all hugged him and shook hands. All of them were crying at this point. It should be noted that these were his best friends within WWE.

Triple H's music then hit and he embraced in a long hug with Edge, at least two minutes without letting go. The other guys continued to hug as well, all crying. The rest of the SmackDown! roster stood on-stage clapping with some tearing up.

As the WWE locker-room headed to the back, Edge began to follow. The WWE locker-room stopped and signaled for him to get back in the ring and soak it up.

Edge then gave a long speech, thanking the crowd, WWE universe, truck drivers, ring crew, creative team, cameraman, announcers, catering. etc etc. He mentioned people by name (Brian (Gerwirtz), Vince, etc)

Edge said he is happy he got to say goodbye in Albany because it's the place where he won his first championship. In fact it was in a cab in Albany where Edge came up with the nickname Edge.

Edge thanked Kane, saying he'd break kayfabe and would probably take some heat for that. He thanked Christian and Kane as his closest friends in the business and said he loved them to death.

Edge thanked Lita and said they'd had some great times together. He even joked to the fans that they needed to get their minds out of the gutter when it came to Lita "even though we really did do it."

Edge said he was going home for a vacation and to spend time with his two dogs. The crowd laughed. He was very emotional during this promo.

There was a large "Hall of Fame" chant. He said he hoped to be in there one day and then said "I think I'm done... you've probably heard enough". The crowd wanted more though.

Edge went and hugged his mother and then every single fan at ringside. Awesome way to end SmackDown! although none of this will air.

WWE cameras were filming this so it may end up on WWE.com. Take it from me as I was there live - this was very emotional.

I admit Hobo it was bad of me to say it, as i'm not homophobic in the slightest. I didn't even know it meant that untill recently, and i don't think a lot of people do. I have apologised and i know that i didn't mean it like that and would never want to offend someone like that.

That ending to SD sounds brilliant, wish i was there!

Thats been the last four SmackDown! shows Christian has been in the MAIN event (winning 3) and the fans have been well and truly behind him, I'm still doubtful they will pull the trigger on him but if they ever where goign to then this is the time to do it

Steve, i think Tyler Reks looks impressive but i don't know if there is a place on the main roster for him at the moment.
