Need to Hurt
Evening Chaps,
Who out there needs pain to really get going when in the ring? Who really steps up when some hurts been put on them? I'm not talking about donkey punches that KO fighters (Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicky), I'm talking about clean shots that snap a fighters head back, hurt him, and put him on the offensive.
For me, Carl Froch is a good example, as is Chavez Jr. Carl because he retaliates and often throws shots from awkward angles, taunting his opponent to go to war with him. Chavez Jr because with that juiced up body-armor of his, he needs to be whacked to remind himself he's in a boxing ring. That juice be doing crazy things to the body AND mind, yo.
"Baby, can you comb my hair?"
Calm down David...
Andre Ward has a great defense, so doesn't often get tagged, but when he does he likes to get in there. Sure, it often involves him using his head (his trainer might need to glove that up soon) but he doesn't mind a bit of the rough stuff when it's needed.
Interviewer: "Manny, what did you think when Ricky Hatton hit the canvas?"
Pac Man: "I thought I kill him."
That's a bit random emore, they don't like you when you're random.
David Haye might not have the best chin, but when a fighter unloads on him you can bet your bottom he'll unload back. He loves a bit of it!
Interviewer: "Mike, you mentioned you were sick leading up to the fight, can you tell us about that?"
Mike Tyson: "My back is broken."
Glorious.
Thoughts on this one, friends...

Re: Need to Hurt
Evander Holyfield, the first two with Bowe. He was hit with everything (in the ninth or tenth) in the first and then staged a remarkable recovery.Absolutely nothing to do with juice though ,probably. The second fight was nearly as good for Holly Wilaboobie-for-tat.For my money had one of the best "never-say-die" attitudes .

Barrera v Morales round 5 is a great example of this!
Ali got comfortable somtimes, and a good shot turned on the fire. After almost getting creamed by Cooper he came out super agressive in the bext round.

Re: Need to Hurt
Holyfield and Morales would be the two examples I would pick from recent times.
Pacquaio himself isnt a bad shout either as at the lower weighs he liked to fight fire with fire.

Re: Need to Hurt
True but come to think of it,Eubank more epitomised it, as he could take a whupping a la Michael Watson, and find one big punch.
