Groves Looked Good
I was impressed with George Groves performance last night. He has been out of action for a while but showed real power and guile.
There were several things to like:
1. His jab, it snaps a fighters head back and sets up his right hand and body shots. George is far quicker than people think, too.
2. He has listened to his trainer and improved massively. Groves seems to be a very grounded guy, and seeing him move his upper body more, faint and work his way into range was great.
3. His power. He has it, and he isn't afraid to unload when he hurts a fighter.
4. His chin. He has a good chin, and although he bruises and cuts easily (when receiving headbutts) he doesn't lose his composure. People forget how much this can naturally, instinctively, improve a fighters defense. Having the sense to consider your shots is a huge thing when talking about defense, IMO. Sure, i'd like to see him get tagged slightly less, but he is getting tagged way less than ever before, and when he needs to Groves takes himself out of range.
5. His body work and right hand. When working the body and pushing his fighter off him, George is able to unload a sharp and very powerful right hand. He can throw the right both at range and close up, especially when he is forcing a fighter to step away from his inside work with fierce body shots.
George looked good last night. He looked hungry, alert, and has improved in many ways, IMO. Let's hope he isn't out for too long due to the accidental cut; let's hope he is back within four months and fighting Anderson.
It's great to see George Groves so willing to travel to the US, too. Taking him out of his comfort zone was a really smart move IMO, and after showcasing Froch, Showtime will be on the look out for another banging Brit, IMO. Groves could well be that boxer. Although, Frank might not see as much coin from him fighting overseas, he can easily build him in the US while filling out an arena for the Anderson rematch and several more UK based fights.

Not sure why people call this a tough fight, especially seeing as the guy has now lost 3 of his last 4 fights.
but I guess Groves has had time off and needed to get some rounds in and dealt with the guy well.

That right to the body was very good, but even if it isn't his fault that tissue paper skin of his could stop him at the highest level. He'd barely have a face left after 12 rounds with Andre Ward's forehead.
Looked like Henry Cooper when he went back to his corner covered in blood.

Looked very good and awesome 4 punch combo to close the show!! Must have concerns of being cut again, that looked really bad!! Still a work in progress but definitely improving.
