Johan Goosen will be fit to play 1 September 2012
I was told this was the update of Goosen's injury on Keo, I checked it and this is what they had to say.
Good news indeed (the fact that Meyer is considering him)
Goosen is said to be recovering well and will be available on 1 September to play competitive rugby.
Goosen has been tipped as a future Springbok by South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer, it is beleived that Meyer is intent on using Goosen in the Rugby Championship. It seems likely that Goosen will miss the overseas leg of this tournament, and make his Test debut in the home matches.
Alternatively, he will come into the Test picture when the Boks tour Europe in November.
Good news indeed (the fact that Meyer is considering him)

Perhaps a run out against Argentina in SA? Will he be fit enough though, hasn't he had a long time out of action or is there the opportunity to get some games under his belt?

I would like to think Meyer can perhaps give him 30 or so minutes in the second half.

I don't think he should be rushed. Let him slowly build up his confidence and fitness in the currie cup and then take him on the end of year tour. One of Steyn, Lambie, Grant or Jantjes can do the job.

You could be right gowales, my worry is every time we keep Morne Steyn for just another series or tournamnet is just another wasted series to see what others could have done.
Lambie has been around for 18 months now, and yet has hardly had chance to prove himself at 10, if the same happens with Goosen I will literally ##$% myself.

The unfortunate thing for Lambie is that he is a decent 15 as well and with the Boks struggling to find an international class 15 it was always going to be a temptation to slow Lambie in there. To be fair he has played very well at 15 for the Boks.

True he has, but as long as you keep one player in a position who is struggling, and keep another good player out of his prefereed position it has a knock on effect with the development of the squad.
Everything has been put on hold because of morne Steyn.

Is 10 Lambie's preferred position though? From what i understand he played 15/12 throughout his school boy years.

Well I hoenstly don't know what his preferred position is, all I know is his best matches he played has been at ten, he won the currie Cup on his own for the sharks two years back, he had some brilliant matches at 10 in the superrugby.
He gets to dictate matches at 10, which doesn't happen when he plays 15 with Morne at 10, he never sees the damn ball.

Lambie's class, actually don't know too much about Goosen. Biltong, would you prefer Goosen over Lambie? Things I like about Lambie, is that he's solid, not über flashy, but solid and not in a dreary way. He can handle himself but also can mix it up. He also has that SA boot. He took it to the line a few times in that clip, noticed an offload to.

EBOP, Goosen shows promise, now I know they say when a guy is good enough he is old enough, so I think Meyer must give both the opportunity at international level and lets see who comes out ontop.

Yeah, I reckon to biltong, there may be some hiccups but these guys are the future so get em in there now. What I've seen of Lambie, reckon he could handle the pressure and himself if targeted. He's not flaky but you guys dont do that.
Actually, just googled Goosen, I recognise that face. I watched the game in which he got injured against the highlanders and at the time I thought who's this guy? Never seen him before but I vaguely remember his injury now. He carved up!

I wouldn't want to see Lambie at 15. His defense was not very good alhtough his attacking skills were clear. Seems much more of an inisde player. But this does provide quality options at 10.
Playing in the Rugby Championship seems soon for Goosen, but only because he missed a lot of time. I would also prefer to see him notch some Currie Cup time, then if fit(!) and playing well give him time playing for the Boks in November. Certainly seems to have a boatload of potential.

Really good news Biltong. Goosens a high quality player. I still think its too early and to be off for several months with injury that young can seriously affect his self esteem and confidence.
First match back from injury should obviously not be a test. I'm assuming he can get several Currie cup matches under hois belt or has that finished for the year?
