How do you PSYCHE yourself up at the gym!!!
Years ago I always used to think of someone i pretty much didn't like before a set and imagined him goading me in some way...For a while it kind of put me in the mood and bolstered me when I wasn't particularly focused!!...Now however I've reached the stage where I can't be bothered hating anybody (not even the pop-in-law!!).....So now it's just personal with the weights etc.....
Always had a proiblem though psyching myself in and not out on the bench press!!
It's always been my weakest lift and I've always worried whether I'd improve on the reps I did last time.....However positive I tried to be I'd have a nagging doubt in my head when I came to lift and I'm sure it affected my performance!!!
Have you had problems psyching yourself up???
Or If you have a great foolproof way of psyching up... maybe you could share it!!!

I can often struggle, Truss. Some days I get to the gym and just have a distinct feeling of lethargy about me - I know it isn't going to be a great session.
Some days I'll turn up and my first set will feel incredibly easy, I'll feel strong and I straight away know that I can perhaps step up from my usual weights, or throw in that extra drop set. It just feels right.
That's it for me really. I've never had a consistent way of getting psyched up, and as for being psyched out well I know if that is the case after my very first set of the session. It's hit and miss.

I like to just plug myself in with some good music, keep my head down, and get it done, to be honest. My music choice is the key, and it's personal to everyone I think.
I've never been one of these guys to shout and scream about what I'm doing, even on the last rep.
To be honest, I like to just keep myself to myself in the gym.

I psyche myself up in different ways. All of them involve creating anger and then channeling it in a positive way. Sometimes I will think of being bullied at school, sometimes when I am thinking of giving up I challenge myself by asking "are you a Cat?" It's very hard to give up having asked yourself that question. Other times I will taunt myself mentally, anything to create the positive anger necessary.

I imagine that I'm in a competition and have to lift a weight a certain number of times in order to win 1st place.
Sometimes its enough to psyche me up, sometimes it isnt.
If you're just not feeling in the mood, than there is little you can do.

Just imagine the idiots who I went to school with and think how pathetic they look now with abysmal strength and fitness, knowing that their missis's dont find them physically attractive in the slightest.
