Summerslam Preview, Thoughts & Predictions
Typically the 2nd biggest PPV on the WWE calendar, in recent years I’ve found Summerslam to be a bit of a disappointment. However this year the card looks pretty strong, and I’m actually finding myself looking forward to next Sunday night. I thought I would do a bit of a preview, thoughts and predictions type thing to kick start the week…….
So far only 4 matches are officially confirmed for next Sunday. I expect a couple more will be added this week, and the WWE also love to throw in a couple of matches on the night too. Without further ado here are my thoughts and predictions for the booked matches:
Daniel Bryan vs. Kane: Despite the fact that he has quite a poor PPV record this year, Daniel Bryan is hot property within the WWE right now. I was really impressed by the Raw main event last week (Bryan vs. Cena) as Bryan has showed that he can work well with the bigger guys, so I expect a decent match out of these two. In terms of progressing the storyline, I think Kane should win. If the WWE want to continue the evolution of Daniel Bryan into a guy with anger management issues, he needs to lose, otherwise what has he got to be angry about!! Also, don’t be surprised to see a Charlie Sheen cameo in this match! Winner: Kane
Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler: Given a decent length of time this match has the potential to steal the show. The feud between Jericho & Ziggler has been set up nicely over the last couple of weeks, and it is refreshing to see Jericho back as in the Y2J persona. Jericho has been on a horrible losing streak since his return at the start of the year, so surely he deserves a win, and I think Ziggler’s momentum is strong enough that he can take a loss without being derailed. Maybe Dolph will end the night on a high anyway if he cashes in his MitB briefcase. Winner: Chris Jericho
CM Punk © vs. John Cena vs. Big Show: It is good to see the WWE Championship becoming the focal point of Raw for the last couple of weeks, and having John Cena back in the title match definitely adds to the profile of the match. I’m sure a lot of people agree that this match would be better without the Big Show in it!! Punk and Cena have shown before that they can put on one hell of a match, and I think Big Show is going to slow down the pace. I’m going for Cena pinning the Big Show to win this one. Hopefully him and Punk will have a decent programme together through the next few months, with Punk winning it back in time for a Rumble match with The Rock. Winner: John Cena
HHH vs. Brock Lesnar: I tend to agree with the majority that Lesnar hasn’t really been booked particularly well since his return to the WWE. However, I’m pretty damn excited to see him back in the ring again, and you just know this match is going to be brutal. I like how the has been built to be more personal over the last couple of weeks with the involvement of Steph McMahon and HBK, and having HBK in HHH’s corner adds to the star power of this match (I’m expecting Paul Heyman to eat some sweet chin music at some point in during the match!!) I think Lesnar will win this, he needs the win more than HHH does. His contract most likely only allows for a couple more matches, and there is high probability that he will finish with a big match at Wrestlemania, so he needs to be booked strongly between now and then. Winner: Brock Lesnar
I might update this post if more matches get announced this week. But please let me know what your initial thoughts are with regards to Summerslam.

Re: Summerslam Preview, Thoughts & Predictions
I am not overwhelmed by the build up.I think more matches should have been announced and there should have been a far better buildup to almost every single match. For once, the WWE Championship has got centre attention because John Cena is back in the mix, but everything else, including Lesnar/HHH feels flat.
WWE still might pull out a big one but I am not going to hold my breath. I think Santino should defend against Cesaro and The Miz should put the Intercontinetal belt on the line. Not enough personal rivalries for the second biggest pay per view, but then again I don't think WWE ever has a great build up any more.If you compare this card to cards in recent years and apart from maybe the two main events then they don't particularly measure up.

Re: Summerslam Preview, Thoughts & Predictions
Based on the shows from their tour of asia, i predict that
Clay v Sandow
Ryback v Slater
Miz v Christian for the IC Title
Will be added to the show

I think i was more excited for Summer Slam last year tbh and thought that was a class ppv.
I think the card is very strong however the build up hasnt been very good. I think WWE needs a major mark out moment at the end of the main event. Simmilar to KKKK Kevin Nash returning last year.

Re: Summerslam Preview, Thoughts & Predictions
I think that with the addition of a WHC match for Sheamus, and Miz vs. Christian or Miz vs. Rey Mysterio for the IC, and suddenly the card looks strong.
If my memory serves me right, Summerslam last year was a bit of a disapointment, with the exception of the Punk vs. Cena main event.
This years Summerslam already looks far better.

Potential to be a great card but simply not built up enough.

Re: Summerslam Preview, Thoughts & Predictions
Brock vs Hunter should be a matchup for the ages, but with poor booking and Brock's limited appearances, it doesn't have the big match hype.I think WWE needs to really get a grip on how to hype things up and make events and matches seem huge.I honestly think only having four matches announced at the moment is poor,WWE is a shadow of its former self.
