Swansea v Reading
Aston Villa v Chelsea
- Spoiler:
- We arrive at Upton Park, for a much talked about clash. Do the Spurs have food poisoning this time?
The match itself started off slowly, with neither team getting to grips with the rather wet and windy conditions. Damiao had his half chance saved comfortably by Robinson on 25 minutes with what was Spurs's best chance of the half. West Ham came close on 45 minutes when Cork, hit a corker (eh eh) of a shot, which rattled the bar from 30 yards out. They went in level at the half.
The second half started, and Spurs came out with a new found attacking prowess. They took control of possession and West Ham looked to sit back and compact the midfield which worked well as Hazard was strangled for a lot of the game, his only real contribution coming on 67 minutes with a snapshot which went wide. But Spurs made a telling substitution on 70 minutes, and looked to attack the wings, and it was from the wings where the winning goal came. Sterling jinxed past his full back, and cut back a ball for Fellaini who powered it home from the edge of the box with only 5 minutes left. West Ham tried to get back into it, but the goal was the sucker punch as Spurs picked up the win.
The Expert's Opinion (by Harry Redknapp)
A funny game this one, with both teams setting up the same way. West Ham worked very hard, and restriced Spurs, but when Spurs attacked the FB's they got success and the win.
How the votes were spread

West Ham 0-1 Spurs

Arsenal v Stoke
- Spoiler:
- This fixture is usually one that is a tasty affair and was no different today.
The match started off with Arsenal on the front foot, with Gervinho having some success against Hutton early on, as he cut inside and hit a curling shot over on 10 minutes. This was a pattern the match would take up, with Stoke willing to sit in and hit Arsenal on the counter. And they did just that on 31 minutes, when Ashley Young launched a counter, and whipped in a lovely cross, which Crouch headed home from with ease. Not a lot happened for the rest of the half, with the home fans not amused as Stoke went into the half in the lead.
The second half started off much like the first with Stoke sat in, prepared to take in Arsenal's possession. And Arsenal had a great chance to equalise on 57 minutes when Upson took down Giroud in the box, but Van Persie missed the penalty. Then came the turning point in the match on 80 minutes. Peter Crouch was put through by sub Gibson, but he tried to lob Chesney, and fluffed his lines. Then Arsenal launched an attack, and Podolski put across a great cross, which Giroud simply couldn't miss from. However, this is how it ended up, as Stoke shut out the rest of Arsenal's attacks.
The Expert's Opinion (by Sir Mick McCarthy)
Stoke set up very well today, and got the point they deserved. Arsenal maybe lacked a bit of creativity in midfield without Cazorla, however Stoke were full value for the point
How the votes were spread
2-5-1
Arsenal 1-1 Stoke
Giroud - Crouch
West Brom v Norwich
- Spoiler:
- The Hawthorne's played host to Norwich vs West Brom, on an unusually nice day in the Midlands.
The match started off dully, with both teams set up to dominate a midfield battle. Lukaku had some success against Distin, but he hit a snapshot over the bar on 16 minutes. As the half went on, Norwich took control of possession, and Hoolahan had a big influence on the game. This was evident as Norwich took the lead on 29 minutes, when he played in Rhodes, we slotted home from 10 yards out to put Norwich in the lead. However this was the last action of the first half, which was pretty dire.
The second half started off with Norwich on top again, however West Brom managed to gain some success down the wing, where Dorrans whipped in a lovely cross from which Lukaku headed straight at Ruddy. Norwich's midfield was struggling with the physicality of West Brom, but Hoolahan still managed to find room for a shot, which Fulop tipped over. On 70 minutes West Brom went more attacking, but Norwich then took control of the midfield. However on 88 minutes Odemwingie was put through by Pienaar, but his shot was brilliantly saved by Ruddy, and that was that.
The Expert's Opinion (by Paul Konchesky)
A great win for Norwich, but I can't understand why West Brom were set up more like the away side. They need to start creating more if they are to get themselves out of this rut.
How the votes were spread

West Brom 0-1 Norwich

Southampton v Liverpool
- Spoiler:
- St Mary's played host to Liverpool, with Enigma taking charge for the first time.
The game started off at a canter, in keeping with Liverpool's recent form. However it was they who had the best chance of the first half on 15 minutes when Luis Suarez blazed over from 12 yards out. But this was a rare sight of goal in the first half for both sides, in what was a dire first half. Both managers had work to do at half time.
The match picked up second half and Liverpool looked more lively and it was they who took the lead on 49 minutes, as Suarez played through a world class ball for Rossi, who tucked it away with aplomb. And then the game settled down again, with defences much on top. This was until 75 minutes when Southampton sent on Jones, and started peppering the Liverpool defence. And it worked on 88 minutes, as Jones knocked down a long ball from the back, and Lambert hit a rifling shot into the roof of the net, to take the 3 points away from Liverpool at the last minute.
The Expert's Opinion (by Neil Warnock)
Funny old game this one. Liverpool for me, could do with an out and out DM, to allow Ramires and Cabaye to push on and create. But Southampton were much improved under Enigma, and in the end deserved a point
How the votes were spread
2-3-2
Southampton 1-1 Liverpool
Lambert - Rossi
Everton v Newcastle
- Spoiler:
- Goodison Park was full to the rafters for the visit of Newcastle.
The game started off at a fast and furious pace, with a lot of attacking talent on show. And Everton took an early lead on 7 minutes when Jelavic slipped his marker in the box, and finished with great power into the bottom corner to give Everton a great start. However after this Newcastle grew into the match, and they got an equaliser on 31 minutes when Luke De Jong unleashed a 25 yard thunderbolt into the top corner, to send there fans into delirium. This was the last main action of the half.
The second half picked up where the first left off, with a great tempo to the game, and again it was Everton who took the lead on 57 minutes this time with Donovan scoring after a nice piece of work by Parker to set him free. And after this on 59 minutes, Jelavic missed a sitter from 6 yards out, in what proved to be the turning point of the match. After this Newcastle took over the game, and on 77 minutes they got the deserved equaliser again, this time through hitman Papiss Cisse, as he turned Hutchingson, and rifled home from 14 yards out. This however was the last real action of a brilliant game.
The Expert's Opinion (by Neville Southall)
Great game between two evenly matched teams. Nothing to separate them, in what was a great draw.

Jelavic, Donovan - Cisse, De Jong
Fulham v Man United
- Spoiler:
- Craven Cottage played host to Utd vs Fulham today.
The match was a quite dour affair, with both teams getting stuck in a midfield battle, and the ball not getting out to the wings as much as it should have. The first half was very poor, with neither side having a shot on target to speak of.
The second half picked up however, when Fulham opened the scoring, through Moussa Dembele, who skinned Evra and curled a shot into the top corner. Fulham then nearly took a two goal lead, but Berbatov missed a guilt edged chance on 60 minutes from a Dembele cross. Man Utd looked bereft of ideas with Rooney not getting into the game at all, however they did what they do best, and in Fergie Time, Danny Welbeck slipped his marker, and finished with a powerful shot that went under Schwarzer, and gained them a point
The Expert's Opinion (by Flavor Flav)
Utd not playing Kagawa was crazy in my opinion. Fulham were by far the better team, but Berbatov was off colour, and with a better striker they would have won this game. Utd got away with one today, Evra in particular had a shocker.
How the votes were spread
3-2-2
Fulham 1-1 Man Utd
Dembele - Welbeck
Swansea v Reading
- Spoiler:
- The Welsh faithful were in full voice for the visit of Reading.
This match, was one in which Swansea took control early on, and nearly scored when Dyer crossed for Adebayor who headed tamely into the hands of Federici from 7 yards out. Swansea kept up the pressure throughout the first half, however it was Reading who took the lead on 43 minutes, when Didier Drogba overpowered Scott Dann, and finished nicely to give them the lead at the break.
Swansea came out with real fire in there bellies, however Reading's tactics of possession football worked in taking the sting out of the Swans. But Swansea made the telling subs as they went more attacking and profited on 80 minutes, when Petric picked up the ball from deep, and hit a shot which deflected past Federici from 20 yards out. However this was the last action as the match ended in a draw.
The Expert's Opinion (by Katherine Jenkins)
A very much improved performance from Reading today, and this was a game which was a even draw. Good point for both sides.
How the votes were spread

Swansea 1-1 Reading
Petric - Drogba
Aston Villa v Chelsea
- Spoiler:
- Villa Park awaited the arrival of Chelsea today.
The match started off at a furious pace, with both teams set up in similar fashions. Chelsea took the lead on 25 minutes, when Mata played through a world class ball for Higuain, who finished easily. A deserved lead. And then Villa, missed a good chance, when Bent fired over from a N'Zogbia cross. Chelsea then doubled there lead on the stroke of half time, when Mata unleashed the demon, and hit a 30 yard thunderbolt to send them in 2-0 ahead at half time.
But Villa came out a changed side second half, and took over the game with Bent again missing a good chance on 57 minutes. The subs came on for Villa, and one of them worked when Demba Ba scored within a minute of coming on, as he latched onto a Weiss cross to give Villa hope with 15 minutes left. However Chelsea then became much more sturdy at the back, with Terry putting in a heroic performance, to make sure they picked up the three points.
The Expert's Opinion (by Alex McLeish)
A very good win for Chelsea today. Both teams set up similarly, but Chelsea's extra quality just picked them up the win.
