Whoa! Just got off the phone to NZ. Stand by for Robbie Deans to announce new role - appears he will not see this years Spring Tour. #rugby

I think he should leave OZ/NZ and try something else. Maybe a French or English club

Robbie Deans should come to Ireland.
Maybe Joe Schmidt should get the Ireland job next year and Deans come to Leinster.
The weather is better in Ireland than in Australia for one thing.

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
Deans?......... yep, why not. Add another SH coach to the continuing Irish SH love-in.
Give him International...and if we still fail miserably with that current lot on board then we'll know for sure that the entire Irish rugby playing fraternity should swiftly move on to table tennis, synchronised swimming and rhythmic gymnastics in time for Rio 2016!

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
Well Wales could do with a decent backs coach.... I'm sure he'll be sought after by a few unions. He has had some unfair criticism lately, all he did was lose twice to the best team in the world whilst they were playing on another level and have his squad pick up more injuries on the way. Not sure what more he could have done.

Doesn't look like he's going anywhere (unless he just hasn't bothered telling the ARU)

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
Well if he has any ambitions to be the All Blacks coach he has only one option.
Coach Wales.
He can take over as backs coach until 2015 then take over from Gatland (while he goes and coaches NZ).
Its the All Black head coach training pathway.
Henry Hansen Gatland Deans
It all makes sense...

Yes, ....first conspire to make sure that you've left Wales incapable of beating the All Blacks. Then that noble service to the cause means you're automatically qualified to take on the All Blacks.
Kiwi coaches abroad are all just spies and double agents after all. Deans being a prime recent example

I'm telling you, once he has destroyed Ioane and JOC's confidence to go along with Pocock, Genia and Beale and possible Cooper, he leave to coach the Lions to a 3-0 victory over Australia. He just hates Australia. It explains everything

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
Surely ensuring Australia bear no threat to the All Blacks is harder and more important and thus Deans is trying to edge ahead of Gatland in the stakes to
Coach them?
Coach them?

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
Reading between John O'Neill's lines. Or actually just read them straight! Robbie must return 4 wins from the remaining 4 matches to keep his job.
He said he wanted to win one Bledisloe cup game, but now that "objective" was "failed" that there are four games left and the objective now was to win them.
That sounds like a line in the sand if I ever hear one, so I think it could be Warratahs for Robbie next year before his inevitable transfer to Wales when Gatland leaves after failing to back up the GS or return a series win with the increasingly poisoned chalice of the Lions reins.
Incentially I still think he is a great coach but just not matching to the Wallabies and Australian culture. And he will have learn a lot from the unsuccessful time with both Wallabies and All Blacks in 2003. I think he moved too quickly to the new generation of Wallabies and failed to build his young talent around a hard core of veterans. They lack experience and leadership and professional history reveal to us that older forwards are better forwards (Eng 2003, SA 2007, NZ 2011).

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
My understanding is:
1. he has lost his job
2. he will take over the Waratahs at the end of the RC
3. Ewen McKenzie will take over the Wallabies at the end of the RC

He's already there, the Queensland plan was for McKenzie to be in charge of all coaching in Queensland while Graham ran the Reds.

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
They'll probably win their last four games now and they'll frantically have to search for excuses like he wasn't joining in the singing for Advance Australia's Fear of the All Blacks.
Waratahs need turning round and his Super credentials hold up a lot better than his international one. Seems like a nice fall back option. Opportunity to show his former bosses what they're missing.

Re: Robbie Deans Quits - Twitter rumour
If you look at the history of Australia coaches in context in this helpful graphic, his record is actually very good apart from v NZ and in line with most Aussie coach except Rod McQueen who had that extraordinary bunch of talented Wallabies.

But given that NZ know him inside out and a lot of Crusaders in the all blacks he has a tough time to make new ideas they are not ready for.
