Yeah but he wasnt used prior to the injury.
If he had stayed with us he would have made huge strides.
Now some may say thats due to the player wanting to leave...but it doesnt help if leicester start clicking their fingers at a player....
Hopefully with Deano and the new regime there now...it will stop this constant exodus of talent....

Re: Newcastle Falcons - We're back!! Championship winners
He started the opening two games of the season and was injured in the third... so hardly not used. He was a sub in the pre-season games, but had only just joined the club and would have been learning the calls and systems ready for the season proper would have been the priority. Leicester's track record on prop development speaks for itself, if any other club can do a much better job of developing a prop I'm yet to see evidence for it on the pitch.
With tongue firmly in cheek I would also like to remind you that it was Newcastle that halted his development last year, so less of your complaining thanks!

Interesting...not what i would say is full strength...but still a strong side. Pack is interesting.
Tomes in again. 28yo...6'7 and 19st...the bulk to compliment Hudson.
What do you think of the front row...and Mayhew at 8

Sean Tomes is a frustrating lump, could be a v good player like his dad, if he'd only sort his fitness out. Was always at least two yards off the pace when he had a season with the Chiefs

40-3 with about 2 mins to go. From what the commentators are saying it's been pretty easy too.

Re: Newcastle Falcons - We're back!! Championship winners
So LW are a good addition to the Premiership then? Not saying Bris would've done better in terms of results (especially at the Stoop) but at least our home games would have been at 'home' and in front of a decent amount of fans.
Totally agree with GeordieFalcon, however now find myself in the horrible position of realising our best chance is the f*****g playoffs.

It was supposed to be a bit tounge in cheek, but if you come on a thread about Newcastle and make a remark like that (especially with no context) what do you expect? Do not try to act like the innocent/ injured party when you set out to urine people off in the first place.

Anyway, enough of this nonsense. Falcons have beaten Scottish 49-32 in what sounds like a very entertaining game.

Re: Newcastle Falcons - We're back!! Championship winners
Good win for Falcons, TBP wrapped up by half-time witha the intercept try, to follow two rolling maul tries and a good backs handling move with the winger crossing. Still very much looking like a Prem team playing in the championship with v good away travelling support. However, good to see Scottish not give up, and themselves come back to plunder a TBP near the end of the game. Still no additional info re Alex Codling's departure

Richards won't be happy with the late sloppy defending. Sounds like we struggled in the scrum again too

McKay, can you take your argument elsewhere?
Just seems like you've came on here to have digs at individuals rather than anything relevant to the thread.

He was in fairly rampaging form at blindside, GC, took his three tries well as part of a dominant Falcons pack. No sign of Rory Lawson for Newcastle, nor of WCP for Scottish, but Jim Thompson played and looked a shadow of the player once tipped for international honours

That's a terrible shame Asbo - Thompson has always looked great but he never made the breakthrough to the national side. And with Hogg and Brown now offering youthful exhuberance and speed, I don't think that he ever will.

Ally Hogg is a rejuventated player.
In the preseason games he was very good...and a hatrick now...he's on fire.
Hopefully he'll keep it up. We've got competition in the back row now...Welch, Wilson, Mayhew, Hogg, Tui'Fua and York all battling for 3 places.

Handy squad rotation to have- should stop players getting tired for the Playoffs

Definately mate.
Been a long time since we could say the Falcons had real depth in any position...but we have it in numerous positions now...

I'd heard big Joe had been starved for 3 weeks and dropped somewhere between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Robinson played lock for the developmental side against Leicester last night:

It's interesting that in another dimension, the Leicester props (Balmain and Brookes) could have been playing for us...

Interesting development team Cumbrian.
Im pleased to see Hodgson playing creative rugby...but even more so pleased to see Robinson, McGuigan and Scott Wilson getting games.
Wilson and Robinson have big futures...and McGuigan...well i think we are really crying out for a monstrous yet quality hooker...and he could just be the one...

Nice to see still such a big support for the Falcons even though they dropped. I like that about rugby.
Good luck getting back up - I like Newcastle as a place and team. And also think it will do rugby a world of good if they kicked on from this and performed better next season in the Prem; like the Chiefs are doing in the deeper south, it'll be great if the Falcons can help bring rugby further north.
