Phenominal run, for someone to overshadow both bolt and blake would need a special performance and that was most certainly it!

Whereas others take three strides between hurdles, Merritt takes four strides - they look like pidgeon steps compared to the others - but it seems to be effective. I suppose for hurdles you have to minimise the time spent being air-borne to increase the average speed.

No he doesn't. If he took 4 strides he would be on alternate legs.

indeed. That will probably be the last time I try to work out peoples movement in full speed on a small screen. Merritt's running style seemed unusual but I think it was to do with the upper body movement as he lifts off. On a slowed down version it seems he has 7 strides to the first hurdle and three in between the hurdles. Thanks for breaking to me the news that I was heading for a creek without a paddle.

The guy is great. He is on his way ot being the greatest sprint hurdler of all time - if he is not already is.
Great performance.

How many runs under 13secs this season?!
Conditions in Zurich were perfect. He put everything out there on the track. Left nothing behind.
The vast majority of us felt it was only a matter of time. He's proved himself to be the best this season - by far. But until he broke the WR, he couldn't quite stake a claim to be one of the greatest ever. That WR combined with the Olympic title puts him well in the mix. He does the same again next year and he nearly guarantees himself that position [ there are some greats in the event ].
Saw him a couple of weeks ago in Birmingham. Was amazing to watch a sub 13 sec run live and in the flesh [ 12.95 - and Richardson 12.98 ]. Would have been something else to watch that WR!

Jacko. Lives close to me. What a shame he never won the big one. In the Olympics he seemed to forget that you had to jump over hurdles rather than run into them.
