and if you'd stopped at 1980, you'd have struggled to get a list.
braddock lucky not to make the cut i'd say.

. Was this just a list of those that failed to make a single successful defence or was there more to it than that?

It was only to 1990 mate, otherwise we would have had Seldon and Bent too

There's a few of them that made a successful title defence; Weaver, Thomas, Ellis and I think Burns. Burns made a few defences I think?horizontalhero wrote:. Was this just a list of those that failed to make a single successful defence or was there more to it than that?

Dear Trussman
Please could we have Bruce Seldon atop the list. To beat an aged Tucker for the title and then surrender it to Tyson makes his the worst ever. At least the other's on the list had guts.

Truss, could also have Lee Savold on the list. He was rated as a heavyweight champ by the Europeans for some reason.

Look up when Bruno was a world champion and then answer the question "why isn't Bruno included?". Hint: Read the title of the thread

I don't think Terrell deserves to be lumped in to this list at all to be honest, Truss, much less so at number six! Not a crowd-pleaser, but his record is too good to be maligned like that.
Ellis, to be honest, should feature much higher, certainly higher than Terrell. Certainly not as much quality in his win column, and Terrell didn't need to rely on a truly unjust verdict to hang on to his WBA belt the way Ellis did against Patterson.

Damiani is an excellent call - was trying to remember when he won the WBO title. Turns out it was 1989.

Nobody really recognised the WBO when Tyson ruled.....
Technically you're right but they became bonafide a little later on!
