A Question For You...
Is there any international rugby trophy that NZ compete for that they didn't win on the first attempt?

Can I get back to you on that one?
Does Women's Touch Rugby count?
I think we won recently but maybe your girls won the first ever comp.

The inaugural Rugby Sevens World Cup was won by England in 1993. New Zealand didn't win it until the 3rd tournament in 2001.

Re: A Question For You...
see AWOP its you whos clutching at straws, shifting the goal posts.
First it was "Oh I only meant rugby"
the "yeah but Union"
Then " well ok 15's"
Im assuming youre going to rule out age group and womens too?
Have England ever not won a tournament they entered, not including the ones they didnt win?

There is a minor dispute over the Beldisloe. Australia think their win at Eden Park in 1931 counts as first official Bledisloe match. New Zealand believe their three match whitewash of Australia in 1932 qualifies.
The disagreement comes down to the fact that Lord Bedisloe made his proposal for the cup in 1931 and New Zealand accepted the idea before that Eden Park Test. However, some newspapers of the time referred to the 1932 match at Sydney as the first with the Bledisloe at stake.
It's likely that the cup was only first presented in 1932, even though the engraving says it was made in 1931. I suppose it depends whether the idea or the cup itself matters most. There's no clear answer, because such matters weren't really very significant at the time, but the 1932 match probably ticks more boxes

Why so upset PSW? It was just a question. I have no vested interest either way. It has brought out this interesting story about the Bledisloe Cup though.
Is it true that the out-size dimensions are related to mix up between imperial and metrics? or is that just an urban myth?

It seems Meyer also believes the world is flat and Pretoria is the center of the planet.

Re: A Question For You...
I'm not sure about this response in reality LB. It makes some assumption going on there and the "better than you are" bit is quite a personal attack to come from a moderator!
But I will take it in good nature of course!
Incidentally, how is the economy and work market looking in Sydney? I'm thinking about a sabatical to the Australasian summer...

Not sure why I am getting this kind of reaction. It's just a question. If you can answer it in the negative then please list the examples. Otherwise it's just some fact.

(1) It's not my country
(2) It's just a question
You are coming across as someone very defensive who is anxious about the success of someone else. Admiring the admirable feats of others is part of being a true fan!

Times are tough AWOP. 10% drop in job ads. Jobs are around but competition is very tough. Building industry has been hit hard (residential the worst; commercial/industrial a little better but not by much).
Nice one Staggy.

If I'd asked "Name the first time in history when a corrupt and/or incompetent NH referee had urinated all over the integrity of the game" then that would have been the correct answer.

That's what I said PSW! But in the end I was forced to back down and issue a public apology for doubting him. I think we're friends now, but he still hasn't replied to my friend invitation so I think he is not on line for a few days.
