Chanting
Both SAF and BR have came out recently asking for calm ahead of the Man Utd vs. Liverpool fixture this weekend. Among those requests are not stop the "offensive" chanting, mainly in relation to the 96 that lost their lives and the Munich air disaster.
They are, obviously, horrible events which I would not wish on anyone, but does the fact that some fans see fit to sing songs about it warrent the press it is getting. In my experience of away games, these fans sing such songs for a reaction, rather than actually agreeing with what they are singing.
I've been to away matches where players have been racially abused, accused of child molestation and the common theme is that the fans want a reaction. When players and/or fans do react this certainly brings joy to those singing who probably feel they have one up on the player.
How do you police such instances, and how can it be dealt with. You cant eject hundreds of fans and by the press picking up on the chants they are drawing attention to what has happened, exactly what these people want.
What are your thoughts on this, and how should it be policed?

I've been to Edinburgh derbies and sang alot worse.
It's part of the hatred. Either you learn to police it, ignore it, or play the fixture behind closed doors.

Personally those singing those vile words should be banned from attending further games if they can't be ejected from the ground.

Re: Chanting
I've been to plenty of Old Firm games and sung/said such horrible things and heard just as bad if not more be fired back, the fact is that this simply isn't on anymore, there is no logical reason for a normally sane human being to turn into neandrathal, when hate for the opposition over powers the love for your own club (and using vile chants does nothing for your own club or fellow fans) then its time to give it up
As Rocky Balboa once said, "if you can change and I can change, we all can change"

This is my view on it. Stewards should single out those singing in and eject them immediately. Have the club record their details and take an image of them and ban them from ever attending games at the stadium its quite simple.

It isnt that simple though, that is the issue...
A load of Man Utd fans singing "it's never your fault" is not sufficient grounds to ban them for line, is it...

Never understood why a grown man would want to sing to a group of men who support a different football team.
