Not surprised, Fleming trains 8 days a week for this sport.

Re: GB Player Watch
Heather Watson currently involved in a big scrap in her first WTA Final against Cheng. Tied at one set all and going with serve in the third set this in on a knife edge. Watson now rising to the challenge Laura Robson has put down and it is great to see them both pushing each other forward. Fingers crossed that Heather can get this done.

Jonathan Marray and his Danish (occasional) doubles partner, Nielsen have qualified for a place in the WTF at the O2.
We may have more British interest if Fleming and Hutchins, who are currently in 9th position, manage to secure a berth.

I just thought I'd shamelessly bump this in case anyone hadn't seen that Jonathan Marray is competing at O2, and that Fleming and Hutchins might still make it.
I know it's 'only' doubles, but it is another fantastic thing for British tennis.

Anne K who got thru first round as a lucky loser is now taking on Roberta Vinci (tough match) in Luxembourg. She finished 2011 very strongly so needs the points. Praps she'll be inspired by Watson/Robson.

Re: GB Player Watch
The reality is both Keothabong and Baltacha have had their day.
Interesting to see both Robson and Watson are now around the top 50 mark. Anne and Bally got there to but that's as high as they went (both had their share of injuries but IMHO Bally could maybe have peaked a little higher without the liver problems).
The new kids on the block look like they are both destined for greater things (touch wood) and they could be joined by Konta might even be able to make inroads soon too at this rate.

Just found this article
http://www.10sballs.com/2012/10/16/murray-wants-to-help-golding-and-others-coming-up/
This could be really good for the young GB players if they take full advantage of it.

Re: GB Player Watch
Good find Carrie.
Really pleased that Ollie Golding will be joining Andy in his gruelling training in Miami. It tookMurray getting hammered by Rafa in his first slam quarter final for him to realise that he wasn't fit enough or working hard enough.
If Ollie learns what it takes at such a young age it can only help him. Hopefully Andy will continue to be a positive influence for him, Liam Broady, Laura... And will be available for all the young Brits.

Sam Murray just won the Glasgow 25k event. Her first Pro tournament win of any level. Will move her to a big career high of about 300 in the world.
4 out of the 5 players she beat this week were higher than her in the rankings by at least 100 places.

Kyle Edmund won the 10k Futures even in Birmingham, Alabama today.
The youngest Brit to win a futures since Murray back in 2003 or so.

Re: GB Player Watch
Any reason why Keothavong was picked over Robson? The only logical reason I can think of is that Robbo might be injured.

Don't know TSJ, I can't find mention of any injury. Keothavong won in straights anyway so it worked well

Re: GB Player Watch
Hmmm that's a shame. I did think she was injured though because she's not really had too much time to recover since the match v Stephens at the AO. As I type this, she recovered from a first set bagel ( ) to stuff Arn 0-6 6-2 6-1.
Also, in other news, Ward has made the final of a Challenger in Adelaide.

Re: GB Player Watch
James Ward has got to final of West Lakes Challenger in Australia...80pts on offer if he can win final against Matthew Barton (Aus). Getting to final moves him up a whacking 58 places to 205...and another 14 places if he can win into the top200.

Great news
Robson loses to an argentině player ranked more than 100 places below her....that might just have been the final nail in the playoff coffin.
Re: GB Player Watch
James Ward has made the semis of a Clay challenger after beating Danilo Petrovic 0-6 7-6(5) 6-0 in the Quarters.

Ward lost in the final to Marton Fucsovics. At least he would appear to have kept some of the momentum to Coventry going.
Dan Evans doesn't appear to have played since.

Kyle Edmund won another futures event this week, will move him up to about 450 in the world next Monday. He has another chance in the next one in the series next week too.
Andrew Fitzpatrick also won a futures event in Glasgow. Not very often there are two British winners in a week.

Re: GB Player Watch
Good news and nice to see one of the younger gang doing well too with Kyle. BTW, Ward came through qualifying in An Ning (what's he doing out in China when there were 2-3 Challengers in Europe this week?) so it's a very good result. He probably fancied himself for the title but it was a close match. He gets 48pts and now moves up 45 places to #214. Onwards and upwards. Evans, take note of the effort Ward has put in...

Lozza Rozza plays Aggy today in Madrid. A very tough ask but at least she'll be able to see where she stands against one of the very best of the moment.

Wow. Well done Laura. Wish I'd watched it.
Anyone watch it? How did the match go, more Laura playing great or Radwanska below par?
