Help Please

Hi there, needed a little help....well actually alot of help. I'm trying to find a name for a book series I read about 16 years ago. I have no idea of the authors name, the title, or how many books were in the series. What meagre information I can remember is below. Any help would be much appreciated.

Character names : Jake, Mojo

Some lines from the book

"Give the man a Cigar"

"He's a closet sexist..the worst kind"

Theres a part early in the book where jake turns up every BMW side mirrors up as he goes past on his way home

Not much help I know but it might ring a bell somewhere. I vaguely remember it being based in a high school or college and around a fanzine they were creating but i'm not certain of that.
