Who would YOU select as Captain if POC doesn't make the SA game?
Irish Captaincy......
So with BOD out and Best too we are short a fair few leaders from the off. From what the lads on the Late Late were saying POC is a major doubt.
We are lucky that we do have another few leaders who have top end experience and the raw materials.
Heaslip: Undefeated as Captain for Leinster. Lots of Test experience and 3 Heineken Cups with Leinster. Can be "a bit rash" or at least could be, the knee to McCaw's head rings a bell but looks more settled now and has started playing in to some form as well.
POM: If Ferris is fit he is not a guaranteed starter and he is still a relatively new face to the International set up. Bit of a hot head but is really respected down in Munster and has already captained the provinces and is still in his early 20's.
Henry: Another who if Ferris is fit is not a definite starter. Has very few caps to his name but has captained Ulster and Ireland Wolfhounds well. Seems to be a respected player in the squad and has good leadership qualities.
Sexton: Hugely respected in the Irish and Leinster squads. IRUPA chairman to boot. Famously was the man who spoke up in the 2011 HCup Final and turned the tide Leinster's way. Test experience and huge HCup experience. Will too much responsibility be placed upon him?
Ryan: One of the most impressive Irish players over the last 12 months. As far as I am aware he hasn't captained Munster but really looks like a go to guy.

Re: Irish Captaincy......
Heaslip for me.
Sexton would be ideal and a natural leader but he has a lot on his plate. Heaslip ticks the boxes but he needs to keep his current form up.
The other guys aren't definite starters and am surprised Ryan is in the leadership circle now. Excellent down in NZ but hasn't been starting at lock for Munster.

I am with you on the Heaslip/Sexton thing. I almost thing Sexton would be better than Heaslip but he has enough to deal with.
Heaslip has been looking pretty good since the latter stages of the HCup IMO. Hopefully he can keep it up.
I think Ryan is real quality and looks to be a leader in my books.
I wouldn't have Henry or POM in there as if Ferris and SOB were both fit I wouldn't have either in the starting XV

Re: Irish Captaincy......
What about Cian Healy. He's surprisingly bright for a prop and for someone from Leinster. He's a senior player, he doesn't slag off fans on Twitter, and he is a leader on the pitch by example.
I really, really, really, really, really hope Sexton is named captain just for little Sin's reaction. How can he justify his hatred of Sexton with his stout defence that Kidney is a great coach. It's going to be absolutely delicious.

GREAT call
Healy was one of the guys mentioned by the panel (Heaslip, Bowe and DOC) last night actually

Re: Irish Captaincy......
Heaslip for me. Sexton can be the commander, but Heaslip will make the right choices. Not always good to have your kicker as captain, and Jamie has a right sensible head nowadays. He's also been Leinster captain ahead of Sexton...
O'Mahoney is too young, and his place isn't guaranteed. Henry is a known leader but again not guaranteed to start. Ryan has never captained a team before so but of an unknown, then again he is from Munster?!

Heaslip is not captain material in my eyes. Even when he was playing really well.

Have to agree. When I saw this thread Healy was the man that sprung to mind for me. The next 2 after him IMO are Heaslip and Sexton but for some reason I don't want to see either of them do it. Healy's the man for me
