Re: play-offs predictions
The Texans are a very strong outfit, all around, no doubt. But I can't seem to see them winning the Superbowl this year. There must be concern about how Rodgers took them apart at home.
Broncos are a dark horse (although getting less dark with each week), and I could see them making a run to the championship game in the AFC, and possibly the bowl.

Re: play-offs predictions
I can't see the Broncos making a late playoff run to be honest. Post season Peyton Manning is a different animal to Regular season Peyton Manning.
I fancy the Steelers from the AFC personally. Despite there O-line troubles, I like Big Ben's ability to make plays and there D is quietly being the most stout D in the league, especially against the pass.
From the NFC I can't see it being the Falcons or Bears, I just don't think when crunch time comes in the playoffs that they have it. I fancy a Packers/49ers Conference game and the winner from that is anyone's guess!
I say Pittsburgh to win it all btw! AFC will win the SB this year

Nahh, I kid.
You'll make the playoffs and could do well in a cold wintery playoff game if your defence goes on like it is.

Re: play-offs predictions
Jay Cutler is 32/64, for 325 yards 2 TDs and 6 INTs when trailing apparently.
Better hope the defense can build him 3 score leads in the playoffs.

No chance. The Bears are horrifically overrated as last night proved. Incredibly easy schedule has made them look like world beaters when in fact they have lost to the only decent teams they have faced in Green Bay and Houston

Yeah but whos to say we would of lost if Cutler had not left the game?
so yeah we will never know if they would have won and the packers games was a very dirty game.

Re: play-offs predictions
I said it yesterday, and I still believe that the Bears won't notice that much difference with Cutler out and Campbell in. Campbell can move in the pocket and make up for some of that terrible O-line play, I still don't think Oakland should have let him go after his injury. Cutler is overrated in my own opinion, and it's down to the D that Chicago sit pretty right now. Against the more efficient offenses they will struggle.

Or Cutler could've kept to form and been poor in games that his defense doesn't dominate for him.

Even as I write that the Pack beat the Pats, I am doubting. I really couldn't tell you which way it might go should they meet. I also wavered on the Broncos losing to the Pats - I think maybe this year is a season too early for them.
The Falcons and Texans have good records so far, but I'm comfortable in believing they are beatable when it comes down to it.

3 teams out of the AFC North into play offs, no Bucs or Colts who both have better records than Steelers

Not sure that the Colts will endure. The Buccs may do and I could see them ahead of the Bengals actually. But I think the Steelers will still make it, even with Ben's absence of the moment. If it is a long absence I may change that though.

Re: play-offs predictions
As a Patriots fan, I would love to see them back in the SB but a couple of the games they have lost this year they should have won and even some of the ones they have won, they have conspired to make it hard for themselves all the same. Gostkowski is a good kicker but he's missed a couple of VERY makeable kicks in pressure situations and you don't win a SB without having to hold your nerve in pressure situations, especially the kicking team. If you told me the score of the SB was 49--35 then I'd know the Pats won (asuming they're in it of course) however you tell me it 20-17 or lower and I'll freely admit that we're unlikely to have won.
Having said all of that, I live in hope!

Hmm...
Anyway, I revived this as I was thinking earlier but didn't feel it was something that deserved a new thread...
Does anyone else feel it's a lot harder to pick a Superbowl winner with confidence this year? Relatively recently, you had teams like New England and Green Bay steamrollering the league and looking nailed on to win the lot. Whether they did or not is immaterial, just the fact that there were real stand out teams.
For most of this year, Atlanta and Houston have had the best records but people don't appear as sure about them as they have with league leading teams in years gone by.
Denver now have the same record as Houston and Seattle are on some 3 game run. New England, Green Bay and Baltimore can never be counted out (although I had thought that about Pittsburgh until very recently) and San Francisco are in the top bracket too... it's just that top bracket contains more teams this year than I can recall in recent times.
Reading that back, it all sounds quite obvious. It sounded better in my head. I guess I just find it odd that I still have no idea who is likely to go the further and how it seems like teams with inferior records look to have as much chance as those above them.
Anyway, who's your tip now? As stated, I can't pick anyone... but I'd like to see Denver or Seattle win it.
Bottom line, anyone but New England please.

Re: play-offs predictions
I agree with everything you've put there!
There hasn't been a stand out team this season. Atlanta have had the best record but have a relatively easy schedule and have not been too dominant in a lot of their wins.
Houston, New England, San Fran, Green Bay, Denver, Baltimore have all looked good at times but then poor at others.
I fancy Denver with Peyton leading them but anything can happen in these play offs and wouldn't be too suprised to see any of the teams in the play offs reach the superbowl.
